I selected the Eton as a result of recent tightening of my company's travel policy. The Eton's corporate rate fit comfortably within my company's rate cap.
Upon entering the lobby, the Eton is nice, but not impressive. Reception staff was fine and suitably warm, particularly relative to the usual service standards in China (I travel there often).
I was pleased with the size and floor-plan of the deluxe room. The room is modern and comfortable, and the bathroom was roomy. It had a great view of Pudong and the river. Shortcomings in the room were several pieces of worn out bed linen and walls so thin that I could hear the tv next door, notwithstanding that I don't believe the volume on the set was excessive.
Breakfast selection was very good, and the quality was fine. They even served sushi for breakfast! Drinks in the bar were . . . just okay, nothing special. Perhaps the bartender could use more training. At dinner, food off of the grill tended to be undercooked, in spite of requests for medium-well grilling.
As others have said, wi-fi in the lobby is free. If you like premium coffee, there's a Costa Coffee shop a few doors away.
I was intending to say that the biggest negative to the Eton is its location. If, however, like me you don't mind taking the Maglev in from the airport and the subway around Shanghai, then the fact that a subway entrance (line #4) is across the street from the Eton nullifies that negative. In fact, it's a huge plus to have subway access so nearby.
