Westin Shanghai Hotel
by Bob_Shan
Great luxury option for business and weekend stays. It has a very nice 5-Floor high lobby with glass roof, nice restaurants and fully equipped workout facilities, only pity is that the swimming pool is too shallow - 1.2 meters
Directions: Adjacent to the Bund center, near the bund

Really an excellent stay.
Beautifully located in the heart of the city. Friendly staff and one of the best breakfast buffet i've ever seen.
Close to the shopping area

Great service, food and location
by Lindqvist
I always stay at the Westin when in Shanghai because of their great Italian restaurant (Prego), their great fitness facility and pool, the great service and last but not least their great location with some of Shanghai's best restaurants (for westerners!) are just around the corner (M on the Bund, 3 on the Bund, etc...)
And they have a Banyan Tree Spa as well!! Good stuff!!

Shanghai's best hotel
by kathynyc
In my opinion, the best hotel in Shanghai both for its location and for its services and rooms. Only 5 min walk to the Bund. It is quite pricy, but if you can afford, definitely stay there. I have stayed at the Peace Hotel and St. Regis. No comparison.
By the way, the Italian restaurant in Westin is delicious. The chef is a real Italian!!! =)

Gorgeous Luxury at Heart of the Bund
by truesally
We stayed here for 3 nights while my husband had business in Shanghai. It is a gorgeous hotel with first-rate service & amenities. The desk clerks are very helpful - they looked up places we wanted to go and wrote them in Chinese on our destination cards and also provided cash/change graciously. There was free access to the Internet in our room; lots of convenient touring & business supplies (pens, paper, maps, magazines, shopping bag). We ordered room service each morning - the prices were reasonable, especially for delicious food delivered into our room at the exact time requested (with a fresh Gerber daisy, too!). The laundry service was prompt, reasonable, and trustworthy.
Unique Quality: The huge bathroom, interestingly enough, was our favorite feature. It was simply beautiful - all grey marble with chrome details, frosted glass doors for the shower & toilet areas, comfortable soaking tub with shelves and ledges and a window to the main room (with adjustable blinds), that amazing bowl sink (but watch out, the faucet is rather close to the edge and can splash water), brushed metal cups for the complimentary bottled water. The lights can be brightened or dimmed according to your needs...There is also a speaker so you can listen to the TV while getting ready :) Their shampoo, conditioner & bath gel are quite nice - a mild spicy floral scent. And I can't forget to mention the thick, cozy robes & soft slippers (you can buy them, along with the sheets - there is a catalog by the bed!).

The Westin Shanghai
by imstress
The Westin Shanghai is the newest 5-star international hotel built in the Bund area.
It has an easy access to the city's business, shopping, sightseeing and entertainment districts.
The Bund is just a 5 mins walk away.
Unique Quality: Look out for the Lotus Leave roof top.

A big, modern hotel, with a great location.
by iwys
This Westin only opened in 2002, making it Shanghai's newest 5* hotel.. It has a superb location, as it is only a 5-minute walk from the Bund. It is a 26-storey tower block, with 301 rooms.
The rooms are quite small and have subdued lighting and ultra-comfortable "Heavenly Beds", so it's easy to fall asleep. There is a well-equipped office-style desk for the business traveller.
The fitness center is quite difficult to find, and it was closed for part of my visit, as Tony Blair was using it. The hotel's indoor pool was a bit too small for my liking - a couple of strokes and you are already across it!
The hotel's restaurant prices are very expensive, but the quality of the food and service is excellent.
There is a great buffet breakfast, with Chinese, Japanese and Western dishes.
Unique Quality: The Westin is one of the new , landmark buildings in Shanghai. You can see it from miles away.
If you are looking for a base for sightseeing, then this is a good place to be.
Directions: The Bund Center.

World class Shanghai
by asianbelle about New World Hotel Shanghai
Really had a pleasant stay here. Facilities and services are at par with global standards. Our double room was able to accommodate three without an extra bed. And the food choices during breakfast? superb!
What made us feel at home here is the presence of the Housekeeping Chief who is a Filipino (well, talk of loving your own, hmm). What I really liked about the hotel is its outdoor pool. Located in the upper floors, you have a view of the clear, blue sky, while guests at the nearby (old) Westin Shanghai have a good view of you.
Stunning Shanghai Hotel
by TripAdvisor Member jblovestotravel
My husband and I recently spent three most pleasant nights at the Westin Shanghai. We are SPG members and on arrival we were asked if we would like to upgrade from an SPG floor room to one of the Executive Levels for an extra US$70 per night. We were so glad we agreed to this as it included a lovely breakfast buffet in the Exec lounge, snacks and beverages all day, and best of all Happy hour from 5.30pm - 7.30pm. We are from Sydney and both enjoy a nice glass of wine. Imagine my horror when reading the wine list in the restaurant on the first night and seeing an Australian wine we pay around $10 for being charged at around $100 per bottle (or $20 glass). Off to the happy hour each night and the upgrade more than paid for itself.
The rooms are very comfortable, and the luxury beds are wonderful. Marble bathroom is stunning and very well appointed.
We ate one meal at the Lobby restaurant which was very nice, but went out to local restaurants for lunch and dinner for the rest of the time. If you love Peking Duck try and find this restaurant (I could not read the name!!). Come out of the Hotel and turn left Walk straight along and cross the street staying on the left hand side. You will see a building which is an office building, and may notice a restaurant on the second floor. Catch a lift to the 2nd floor and you will find an authentic Chinese restaurant that serves the most amazing Peking Duck (and many other lovely dishes). Four of us feasted for under AUD$60 and the service was most attentive. Cannot quite get used to people smoking in restaurants, but hey, we are not at home!!
The Spa at the hotel was most luxurious and they offer a few discounts for hotel guests so it is not as expensive as it initially seems. They will also put a package together to suit your desires. I enjoyed a half hour back massage and a one hour facial, it was heavenly!!
Staff are courteous at all times and whilst the lobby is a bit garish there is also something very intruiging and welcoming about the coloured stairs - sort of reminds of the horses that change colours in the Wizard of Oz.
Highly recommend this haven in the middle of a very busy city.

I stayed at New World Hotel before which is adjacent to Westin Shanghai. But I understand, Westin Shanghai transferred to another location or somewhere. If not, you may consider New World Hotel.
