Hi Lina
We took a taxi from airport to central Shanghai (Metropole Hotel) and cost was 50rmb with the meter on.
lindyz, your Metropole Hotel is pretty far from where this person wants to go, so the 50 RMB taxi fare is not useful as a gauge, sorry. :(
There's no bus from Hongqiao airport to where you want to go. The best bet is probably a taxi. What time are you arriving? I would estimate a fare of around 100 RMB -- I live around here.
Yeh well I dont know areas - I was just trying to give the person an idea on how much it would cost from the airport to Central Shanghai, I guess Ill just shutup next time.
lindyz! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you can't answer. :( I was just wanting to alert this poster that your point of reference isn't near where s/he wants to go.
Thanks so much for the reply
so you sure that from hongqiao airport if i take taxi it cost me not more than 120 ?
guide me one thing also, how from hongqiao airport i can go any nearest subway and how ?
Well, what time of day would you be arriving?
we will arrive before 20.30pm in night
can advice the same question pleease ?
do u tell me the phone number of Homeinns and Topstar Hotel Wujiaochang Branch- Shanghai ???
If you take a taxi from Hongqiao airport to the nearest metro stop (Songhong Lu on line 2) it would probably cost around 20-25 RMB depending on traffic conditions.
Alternatively, take the airport shuttle going to Jing'an Temple metro stop (also on line 2, but closer to where you need to go) for 4 RMB/pax.
After getting to metro line 2, take it to People's Square, then change to line 8 going towards Shiguang Lu. The last train at People's Square going north towards Shiguang Lu leaves at 2234. To get to People's Square, it'll take you about 25 mins from Songhong Lu, or 7 mins from Jing'an Temple.
At People's Square, take line 8 going towards Shiguang Lu, and alight at Xiangyin Lu. This should take about 35 mins.
Fare per person on the metro (you'll only need to buy 1 ticket for the entire metro trip) will be 5 RMB whether you get on at Songhong Lu or at Jing'an Temple.
BTW I hope you don't have much luggage as you'll need to do a lot of walking at People's Square. Also, be prepared for lots of people (and pushing) on the metro and lots of stairs at metro stops.
I'd offer to meet up when you get here, but I don't know if you'd be interested.
Also, when you get to Xiangyin Lu metro stop, you'll need to take a taxi to your hotel. Have the hotel name and address printed in Chinese characters for everyone's benefit. If your taxi ride is before 2300, fare will be 12 RMB; otherwise it'll be 14 RMB.

I lived in a hotel on the new area (Pudong) in Shanghai for two weeks. A friend told me I should go to Bull & Bear for a dinner, instead to take a taxi to the other side of the river through the tunnel, There is always traffic jam. So I did.
When I first entered, i got the feeling to leave the crowed China and come to a elegant small European place, where you feel home. Nevertheless it is not a fine dining restaurant. A lot of dishes are original German home cooking dishes, but the Menu contains also a selection of other kind of food (Burger, Hot Dogs, Pizza, Steak...) . Some English people told me, that they like specially the English breakfast here. After 9pm the Restaurant changes and gets more the character of a European pub. The collection of beers is great and I could get a real German Pils. If there are enough people, the 'beer stock market' starts. It means the prices for drinks change, depending on the actual consumption. If you are fastyou can get a dring for a very good price. Everyone enjoyed this 'game'. So I stayed longer and enjoyed the talking with other European and the music of the 50th and 60th. I came only for a late dinner and left at 12pm! It became a regular place to eat and enjoy.
Bull & Bear is located together with other bars and restaurants. The environment can be compared with Xintiandi. European style buildings and tables outside of the restaurant. As German I choose the famous Curry Sausage and I enjoyed the taste, which was the same as in my hometown. The price is reasonable.
Orient Pearl TV Tower, which is the popular Shanghai icon, is a TV tower opposite The Bund. It is said to be the tallest tower in Asia. It is beautiful in the morning, as well as at night when it is lit-up. The tower has three observatory levels and a revolving restaurant.
You cannot miss taking a picture with the Orient Pearl Tower when in Shanghai. :)
The Shanghai Exhibition Centre, previously known as the Sino-USSR Friendship Exhibition Hall, was built in 1955 - soon after the Communist Party's victory in the Chinese Civil War - as a grand monument to international Communism. Constructed in a Bolshevik-cum-beaux arts architectural style, it has a crowning red star and a multitude of grand halls and rooms. Nowadays, it functions as a centre offering large-scale conference and exhibition services. It can be accessed via Nanjing West Road, directly opposite the Shanghai Centre and Portman Ritz-Carlton Hotel, and can be visited outside of trade shows.
