The fabric market at...
by wallflower
The fabric market at Dongjiaban road is very impressive. You have never seen such a collection of fabric in your life. Bargain like crazy though.
Plus they sell everything in every color.
Fudan University neigbourhood. Take a stroll along handan lu (part in between Guoding rd and Wu jiao chang) and you'll be able to upgrade your software and CD collection for a max. of 10RMB (a little over 1USD) per program/CD. Make sure you check the software is in English though.
Take the 55 bus or the 910 bus to drive you back to Waitan (the Bund). 2 RMB, a nice view (some are double deckers) and something most tourists never do. The bus stops at every stop. No need to ring a bell
Taxi
by simcard
There are different taxi companies in Shanghai, and of course, with different qualities. If you want the best service, always look for the cab with the color as it shows in the picture. Otherwise, the white cab and orange one can be good too.
Getting a taxi during rainy days or during rush hours is just impossible in Shanghai. I wish I could give u some tips but I still haven't found out yet.. I personally just avoid going out during that time if I have to depend on taxi to get around!
When you get out of the airport, always always always go to the taxi line to get your ride. There will be people approaching u to use their taxi. Do NOT follow them. Those are the ones without taxi license and they usually like to rip off people who are new to the city. They don't issue u receipts either and u can't even find a place to complain if something bad happens.
