This hotel was difficult to find, didn't appear on most travel websites, probably because its a three star Chinese run businessman's hotel. It was a certainly a leap of faith but the price of 460 RMB including breakfast was to good to pass up. At this price I had few expectations but I was pleasantly surprised, the front dest was courtious and pleasant with passable English. Outside of the usual stains in the carpet the room was quite modern and acceptable, the bedding was fantastic (down douvet), well outfitted clean bathroom, satilite TV, teapot with green tea available and bar fridge. The hotel offers one free saftey deposit box which came in very handy, there is a good lounge, spa & travel centre all on the same floor. The biggest surprise came with breakfast, the room was spacious, clean and offered a wide variety of dimsum, western choices and the coffee was the best I've ever had in China.
Unique Quality: -Get a room above the 9th floor the views of the City and Bund are fantastic
-The hotel is only two blocks from the Bund and seven short blocks to the pedestrian shopping street
-The hotel is only a 10 minute cab ride to the knockoff market (15 RMB max)
-The hotel is two block from the old town where you can shop, get a MacDonalds burger and there's 3 starbucks
Downsides are few, the entance of the Hotel is on sort of a side street and they don't cash travelers cheques at the front desk so bring cash or credit cards
Directions: HuangPu District, from the hotel to Pudong airport was 180-200 and takes a good 45-60 minutes
