pudong airport to hongqiao airport

by TheNanyangChinaman

Hi VTers,
To get to Zhengzhou, I will arrive at Pudong airport but need to take the domestic flight at hongqiao airport.
Other than the taking taxi what other options do I have, and how much time allowance do I need?

I have about 4.5 hours between flights.
TIA.

Thanks MikeySoft ,
Shanghai being a big and modern city,I always suspected there is a shuttle service between the airports.
I was not able to search for the information needed, I had visited their site as given by you earlier but using Firefox browser I was not able to proceed to the land transport page.
After reading your reply I accessed the land transport page by using microsoft internet browser and finally I could get the desired information.
I guess Firefox browser has its disadvantages too.

Don't forget that you'll need to be at Hongqiao airport 2 hours before flight departure time in order to check-in, check-in closes 45 mins before departure time.
Depending on what time of day you arrive at Pudong airport, you could take anything from 0.5 to 2 hours to clear immigration and baggage claim. The bus to Hongqiao airport should take around 1.5 hours. Without knowing your time of arrival at Pudong airport, I'm not sure if you can make your other flight in time.

fastest way is Maglev+Metro
Maglev = about 40rmb and 7 minutes to Metro station
From there you can take another train

Except that, the metro doesn't go all the way to Hongqiao airport yet, so he'll still have to take a taxi at the end of it. Might as well take the airport shuttle all the way, it's cheaper and less hassle.

oops, my mistake
listen to ellyse
still, it's fun to travel with the Maglev

Travel Tips for Shanghai

Cashmere and Silk

by Patriquito about Shanghai DongJiaDu Textile Clothes Market

In this market you can get tailor-made dresses and suits. They will measure you and make it in two or three days. You just pick a certain material (such as cashmere, silk or cotton) and show them a picture of how the suit or dress shall look alike. Even a selfmade drawing will do it. You will have to bargain the price. I got cashmere trousers, a jacket and a west for 830 RMB altogether. BUT BE AWARE! Quality has its price: Probably the work is not so accurate and maybe it will unseam or so. Anyhow, I am content with my suit! :)

Oh what a view.

by MaosRedArmy about M on the Bund

Spectacular view. A great place for a special occassion. It is a bit pricey, so if you are watching your wallet, maybe take a pass on this one.

Also, if you don't like pumpkin ravioli with sage or other non-traditional food combinations (aka you prefer steak and potatoes), this isn't the place for you.

Me, I absolutely loved it. And so did my lady. We'll definitely be back. Pumpkin Ravioli w/ Sage. Reminds me of being back at Drago's in Los Angeles.

The Y files: the "cricket" market

by marielexoteria

The Y files, where Y stands for "yowza!".

Now I expected to see flowers, birds and bees at this market but not this! The Flower, Bird, Fish and Insect Market is the place where I saw what I thought of calling "crickets on steroids". The crickets here are very big because they're fighter crickets(!)...and they're really loud.

Free admission.

Shanghai pre World Expo 2010

by marielexoteria

We went to Shanghai on the night train from Beijing. We got there the morning after and saw a lot of preparations for the World Expo 2010. A lot of work was being done by Shanghai Railway Station and surrounding blocks and it looks like the Shanghainese (Shanghainers?) are excited about this.

Shanghai looks like what I thought the future would look like when I was a young child and the only thing missing was the hover cars hehe but they have the Maglev from the airport so maybe they'll get there.... What I remember the most is the avant-garde skyline, wow.

This is one of the many mascots of the World Expo that we saw. This big one was on East Nanjin Road.
