If you are there before the end of the month, go to Expo 2010. Be ready for the crowds. In fact as the Expo draws to a close, there may be even more than the average half a million visitors a day. Apart from that, buy a good guidebook and plan your outings. Or check out what other people have said here and on other travel sites.
Hello. Go to the Hyatt Hotel across the river. It is one of the WORLDS (top 5) tallest. There is a Restaurant & Bar on the top. Its a must do. Do the MAG LIFT train to the airport.
Would you be interested in day trips? Suzhou and Hangzhou are pretty nice and accessible by train. Alternatively, you can go to one of those water villages nearby. There's one close to Shanghai but most of those are near Suzhou. Many tours of Suzhou also take you to one of the water villages.
And - um - spas are also very nice. We got a massage at Dragonfly spa for about less than US$20 per hour (135RMB, I think). And it's already more expensive than the other one we saw on the same street.
Hi,
Make sure you visit Yuyang Gardens and go up the Oriental Pearl tower. Take plenty of time to walk along the Bund, especially at night - the lights are beautiful. Enjoy the wonderful restaurants. And last but not least try to get to an Acrobats show.

There are two airports in Shanghai. One is Pudong International Airport (PVG), the other is Hongqiao Airport (SHA). Always make sure where your flight is since these two airports are far away from each other. If you need to connect your flights at Shanghai, always try to book your flights at the same airport, if not possible, allows plenty of time for u to travel during your layover!
The Bund Brewery is the oldest brewery in Shanghai, open since 1998 (!). It offers German wheat, dark and lager beer and some dishes and snacks if you're hungry.
The beers are more expensive here than in every other place but they felt "more exclusive".
Yu Garden is a 5-acre green sanctuary in the midst of Nanshi, the old Chinese quarter of Shanghai. It's still a relative sanctuary, if you can ignore the inevitable masses of tourists. Originally built in the 16th century, it has been restored numerous times and consists of a series of inter-connected open spaces, typically centred on a hall or pavilion. It is a good place for a stroll away from traffic fumes. A bit of trivia: the Exquisite Jade Rock in the garden was originally destined for Beijing but didn't get beyond the Huangpu river bed - it was fished out centuries later.
Yu Garden is open daily between 8.30 am and 5 pm, and there is an entrance fee.
