Taiyuan, Shanxi
Taiyuan is the capital of Shanxi province, located in North-Eastern China, about 5 hours south-west of Beijing. Seriously, there's nothing to see here. And i mean NOTHING. The air's polluted (this city is China's largest coal producer) and everything's covered in a thin layer of dust that would put any other Chinese city to shame.
Why did I come here? Because the English school that I work at has offered me a very attractive salary, so I decided to take it. If you wanna learn more about this province a good place to start is National Geographic's article on China in the March, or February 2004 issue. It's very interesting.
