Wenshu Monastery
by nepalgoods
Wenshu Monastery is a Buddhist Monastery full of monchs and students and of course worshippers. It is the home of the Buddhist Association of Sichuan Province and Chengdu City.
Built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Wenshu Monastery was once called Xinxiang Temple. In 1681, during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Cidu, an accomplished Buddhist monk, came to the monastery. He built a simple hut between two trees and for several years lived an ascetic life there. Legend has it when Cidu was being cremated; the statue of Wensu (Bodhisattva Manjusri in Sanskrit) appeared in the flames, staying for a long time. So people regarded Cidu as the reincarnation of the Bodhisattva Manjusri. Thereafter, Xinxiang Temple became Wenshu Monastery.

Visit Jinli Street - 2.
by K.Knight
Stretching back to ancient times, when Jinli Street was a busy area in Chengdu, Jinli street has been reconstructed within the past 5 years and it is now a tourist destination for pub/bars, tea houses, handicrafts, art and, of course, a Starbucks.
Anne and returned to Jinli Street in the early evening as it was close to our hotel and we wanted to try some of the fresh food that is cooked to order at one of the food stalls. The ingredients were fresh, the food was steamed and the entertainment of watching the cook play a tune on her bamboo drum instead of using a timer was excellent.
