Hello,
I'm trying to go from Chengdu to Leshan. Our Lonely Planet guide is as about 1-2 years old. It suggests taking a 2 hour bus ride, but also says that there is a high speed train that is nearing completion. Does anyone know if this train line is complete?

I think going by bus might still be the better option currently. The trains aren't much faster and departures are limited.

Go to the main bus station and get a ticket from there. It is very easy but make sure that you catch a bus back from the same company.

Thanks for your comments. One last question...Are the buses to and from Chengdu air conditioned? It is supposed to be a little hot coming up and I just wanted to know what to expect.

In the marketstreets of Chengdu we found not only flowers in abundant colors, but also green plants in pots. The choice in different species was not very big.
Chengdu has a lot of artisans. The silk and bamboo products from Chengdu are very known. At the market we saw a lot of bamboo products of all kind, like cages for birds and baskets.
This is the main entrance hall into the monastery complex. It was built in the 45th year during the reign of Emperor Kangxi in 1706 and then rebuilt in 1821. Enshrined in the centre of the hall is a 1.7 meter high sitting copper statue of Maitreya Bodhisattva moulded in 1829. He is the Future Buddha and is sometimes known as the laughing Buddha. On either side of him on the sides of the hall are the four temple guardians.
Mt Emei is really a charming little town - a main entrance with one main drag really where vehicles go up and down to the mountain's entrance. The main street is filled with lanterns and it is so lovely in the evenings when it's all lit up. The spa is located on the main street also - all within easy walking distance and the hostels/hotels are all in the side streets where little to no traffic enters just motorbikes!!
There's not a whole lot to do there except for the mountain climb which we had to cancel due to the very wet weather and the spas - but you need time for all these activities.
