You must never miss the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center. The pandas don't look so clean but nevertheless adorable and very friendly.

Emeishan and Leshan for Buddhism.
Not sure if you have the time and money to go to Litang, and also not sure if the horse-racing festival will be ongoing at the time of your trip.
Hailuogou Glacier might be worth a go, if the weather is good and you're not on a tight budget.

If you want to see unique things and have an amazing trip, such as pasture, Tibetan villages, Qiang villages, temples, lamas..., you should go to Aba and Ganzi, northwest of Sichuan. I have been there the last summer, and really enjoy my trip.
If you like, you could browse my pages and tips about Aba and Ganzi, hope you could find some interesting things. http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/c6ecc/f8add/

If you are venturesome, try these places:
Pasture: Litang, Daocheng and Yading, in north Sichuan province;
Waterfall: Jiuzhaigou
Tibetan & Qiang villages: Ganzi & Aba Autonomous Region,
Taoism: Mt. Qingcheng
Buddism: Mt.Leshan, Emei
Hot spring: Emei,Mt.Xiling

Hope it helps

I am planning to do the same trip in April. Is it difficoult to travel from Chengdu to Kanding Ganzi? Reports say it is like a nightmare. Is it true in your opinion? I am a solo traveller and I would like to use public transport as long as it is possible. What about accommodation? very basic?
Thank you Marina

I didn't find Kangding -- Chengdu difficult at all, although we had an irritating bus driver who didn't like to turn on the aircon, and stopped every couple of hours, making our journey much longer than expected. Usual amount of time (this was before the earthquake, mind you) was around 6-8 hours.

Travel Tips for Chengdu

More beautiful ladies

by l_joo

I snapped this picture on a public bus here, don't ask me why, just click to enlarge to know why. I don't know whether the entire Chengdu resided so many beautiful ladies or it was some coincidental moments, but try not to analyze that, for now, just look at Chengduan beauties.

Recovering

This Monastery - or Xin Xian Temple - was full of life when we arrived, as some ceremony was being performed. We had lunch at the vegetarian restaurant (menu in English, we sat outside, recommended) and drank tea in its tea garden. It is peaceful place with all kind of activities, including singing birds, lazy cats and temple building. Outisde the temple (or monastery) some modern streets are lined with reconstructed shops.

Wu Hou Shi - Wu Hou Memorial Temple

by Sharrie

WU HOU SHI - Wu Hou Memorial Temple.

Built in memory of Liu Bei, an highly respected emperor in the 3 Kingdom Period (220-280AD) & prime minister Zhu Ge Liang.

A must if you are familiar with Chinese history.
