Sichuan province has an abundance of Chinese medicines and I am very lucky to have a chance to visit the Chinese medicine wholesale centre in northern Chengdu. This is a huge place with lots of activities going on.

Songpan to Sanxingdui to Dujiangyan
My itinerary is such :-
Juizaigou - Huanglong - Songpan - Sanxingdui - Dujiangyan - Chengdu
I will be at Songpan do to day's trek and would like to leave for Sanxingdui the next morning as early as possible. I would appreciate if VTers can help me with some of the questions below :-
1) Is there a bus from Songpan to Sanxingdui? - How long is the journey, the fare and timing of the bus?
2) Is there a bus from Sanxingdui to Dujiangyan? - How long is the journey, the fare and timing of the bus?

1.There is no bus from Sonpan to Sanxingdui. You need to transfer at Dujiangyan or Chengdu.
2.Maybe there have bus between the two place as you mean to get there directly. If there is no bus can get the aim directly, you can transfer at Guanghan which is the city Sanxingdui belongs to.

Obviously these 3 places are not close to each other.no buses.I donnt think trek in Songpan now is a good idea.You could transfer in Chengdu.

I think it might make better geographical sense to do Dujiangyan after Songpan and before Chengdu, as it's enroute. Then do Sanxingdui as a daytrip from Chengdu. Problems solved!
Travel Tips for Chengdu
Giant Panda Breeding Research Base
Located 6km north of Chegdu's zoo. Opens from 8am to 6pm daily. Admission cost = RMB 30. Best way of getting there is to take a taxi for RMB 60. (there's no bus service).
Best time to be there is during feeding time i.e. 10am - 12pm. On cold days, Pandas just wanna hide in their shelters.
Sanxingdui and Museum
Unfortunately I was unable to visit Sanxingdui (long story), which was to be the highlight of my trip to Chengdu. It is one of the most significant Bronze Age sites in China and it's discovery has resulted in major reappraisals of the Bronze Age in the country. It's like the "Mogaokou of the South" in terms of importance.
I hear from many people that it is absolutely fabulous. It is about 90 minutes north of the city in the Xinde area.
There are a lot of good websites connected with Sanxingdui...just Google for them but this one is very good.
There are some minor artefacts in the Sichuan University Museum (see separate review).
