visit Jiuzhaigou & Huanglong on October
by imel_surabaya
Hi,
I plan to go to Jiuzhaigou & Huanglong with a group of tour on October. There are 2 option to go: on 20 October or 27 october. Will there be too crowded people during the dates? I heard that Jiuzhaigou is in high season on October.
Do you have suggestion, between the both 20 or 27 October, which date would be more convenient?.
Also, how is the weather?
Thank you

During the 1st October and 7th October is the National holiday in China.so neither 20th or 27th to go would be too crowded with Chinese there. But October is rally the high season due to the red maple. It can be really cold in the moutains.I went there in summer and still need to wear shirts. As you went there in fall, the sweater is necessary.I think 20th to go may be better to see the red maple and it's warmer. The scenery of Jiuzhaigou & Huanglong is gorgeous ,maybe it's litte crowded,so be patient and enjoy yourself!

I took my parents to Jiuzhaigou last October and despite being high season it was really quite manageable. The best tip I can give you is to stay overnight near the park and enter at the very beginning of the day - in the early morning the far reaches of the park are fairly quiet, and it gets more crowded as the day goes on. It is a really large area, and the buses and walkways make it very accessible. If one spot looks crowded you can always ride a little further up or down the valley.
Travel Tips for Jiuzhaigou
Go with a guide

If you can't speak Chinese then please go with a guide. English is not widely spoken there in the tourist spots. Go with a guide eliminate the chance to be cheated and waste money on unnecessary things. Water, the most beautiful water I’ve never seen.
Waterfalls - Die Pu
by imstress
There are 17 waterfalls in Jiuzhaigou.
During our trip we visited Nuorilang, Pearl Shoal, Panda Lake and Shuzheng Waterfall.
Each of these waterfall are magnificant and awesome in it own way. They are the icon of Jiuzhaigou.
Tibetian dancing
by simsky_pat
The dancing was great and colourful. Cost RMB150 per person and the whole show lasted over 2 hours.
The show was loud with lots of band and singing, and have a bit of interaction between the visitors. But unless you know Chinese, you are not going to understand what they mean.
Lots of beautiful Tibetian girls waiting outside the hall and putting scarf around you. Once inside the hall there are mens showing you where to sit, they sound like they are shouting at you to site down, but they are not and it is just their custom. They have tea or wine in front of you; don’t drink it as they have been left there (not sure how long).
Well worth seeing.
Freezing throughout most of the year.

At over 3000m high expect plenty of snow and chilly weather. Best season to visit is October when the foliage blooms in rich hues of gold, magenta and purple. Think Zhang Yimou's film titled Hero. I've never worn longjohns but I've learnt to regret my decision. I suffered minor cold burns on my arms and ithe nside of my thighs. Bring enough sun block, moisturing creams and winter clothing. Better still, buy them in the Chinese cities at easily half or less the price back home. Chinese toilets are primitive and unimaginably filthy outside the hotels and protected scenic spots. Don't forget to bring along plenty of anti-bacterial gel to wash yourself with. Even for paid toilets along the stopovers during our drive it's often a nightmare. China is progressing at a breakneck pace except for her toilet facilities. In 5 to 10 years' time I'm optimistic the toilets would become tolerable by then.
Spring
by sylina
As spring comes, ice and snow in Jiuzhaigou begin to melt, the water is flooding and the mountain flowers are in full bloom; the soft and languid sun of spring is kissing the lake, the sprouts and your heart moved by nature.
