A new Best Western branch in Bei Chen （北辰） industrial zone. Hotel room and facilities are fine, but has limited dining and activity options.
Unique Quality: Good bargain for business travelers. CNY 320 per night for a deluxe room with King size bed.

Foreign GuestHouse: Accommodation in Nankai University area
I stayed two weeks in this accommodation and was very happy with it. The room itself had seen better days but it was clean and safe. In one room there were two writing desks, a TV, two beds and a small wardrobe. There was also a shower and a toilet in the room.
Towels and sheets were provided as well as shampoo and toilet paper. I paid for a twin room 13 euros per night. Just for your information in APR 2008 it was possible to pay ONLY with cash. Also, they do not serve breakfast but hey, for 13 euros it was perfect!
An internet connection could be bought to the room with 100 RMB deposit. Personally I used the connection for 2-3 hours per night. The use, which could be checked online for both the time and amount spent, was debited from the deposit. For two weeks of use I paid three euros.
Oh yes, the reception people do not speak English, just Chinese.
I will try to find some contact information to the place but I think that Lonely Planet has mentioned this place in their travel book.
Unique Quality: In Nankai University area. Taxi drivers find to the correct place just by saying "Nankai University" (Nankai DaXue). WeiJing Road entrance.

Unique Quality: Relatively inexpensive in a city where hotels are double the rest of China. RMB150 should get you a decent room. There are many foreigners who can give advice.

quite difficult to find;I went to a very luxuous hotel in the center,and ask there for a taxi;the girl at the reception wrote in chinese for the driver where to go,and she told me the price to pay(for taxi and for hotel)
that's how I found a very nice hotel for 15$.
in china,there is a receptionnist girl at every floor night and day to open your door
