Samye Monastery: Sleep in a monastery

There are several places to stay in Samye both in and outside of the monastery. We stayed in the monastery guest house. This was more than a little basic. You share 4 people to a room, the electricity comes on at around 8pm, there is only running water in the main court yard and the toilets are a little bit interesting! We were comfortable enough except for the light turning on in the middle of the night and being unable to turn it off and a monk (we think) knocking on the door 3 times during the night!

There are not that many options in the area and at least by staying here you can say you slept in a monastery!!
