Did you ever realise that there's a section of this site devoted to members' travel tips? And I'm sure you didn't realise your question was so open-ended (what exactly did you want tips about?) that it's impossible to answer.
No offence but I don't know if you're ignorant, lazy or both!

No offence but I think this chap is posting to all and sundry so as to rack up the "number of posts" on VT so that he can look like a very active and "contributive" member!

Travel Tips for Kunming

5 RMB Hair Cut

by honurox

I think I have beat
hooiluangoh in the hair cut department, for just 5 RMB I got a hair cut. Sure I did not get a wash or blowe, but fot 5RMB....who cares. I was just happy to pay so little. I'm used to paying $20-30 back home. It was not the best cut I ever had, but it was ok.

Near the west gate of the Yunnan Normal University, there are 3-4 small barbers shops. The seem to get cheaper the farther from the school you get. I'm sure I could of got a cheaper cut if I went a little way more down the street. Having the lady just "Barrowed" the scissors form the next chair, cigarette in mouth...and just started cutting.

Auto registration number in Yunnan

by hooiluangoh

It starts with a chinese character for Yunnan's Yun, followed by a letter.

Letter A stands for Kunming.
Letter B is for the 2nd largest town in Yunnan.
And so on and so forth. Taxis are all light blue colour.

Outside of Kunming .....

by victorwkf

Other then Kunming city, there are many interesting places in Yunnan you can visit, including popular locations such as Dali, Lijiang, Shangrila (Zhongdian), Deqin, the southern Xishuangbana area etc etc. Essentially, Yunnan is a mountainous province with beautiful landscape and mighty rivers, of course not forgetting the colourful ethnic tribes.

Bus to Dali [new town]

by Avieira67

Buses from Kunming to Dali [new town] departure from the south bus station [Beijing Lu], close to the train station.
I left Kunming at 08:50 and arrived in Dali at about 14:00. Fare is 76 CNY.
When in Dali (new town), you have to take a minibus to Dali Old Town.

Yunnannese minorities' cuisine

by hooiluangoh about Guang Yi Fan Dian

The doorway is narrow. Crowd can be overwhelming in the early evening (6-7pm). Inside is a coutyard style setup, you can choose to have your meals in the front hall, back hall, or side hall.

They serve chinese soup. The winter melon soup is delicious. Dish 1 : Pork (Wu hua) simmered with chestnuts. A little too sweet for me, but I am sure many people find this excellent. I shunned the skin and fat portion, but was told by the owner that's the best part.

Dish 2 : Naxi minorities steamboat, with yunnanese ham and lots of vege & mushroom. Quite an experience.
