Local Fishing in Dian Chi
by vigi
This photo shows locals spending their afternoon, fishing at Dian Chi Lake, what a relaxing life!!!
They were staring at the 2 foreigners (LaoWuai) walking with me, and whenever we weave to them, they will weave back with smiles. This is very nice. I never experience this when I travelling in China, perhaps this is a special treats to LaoWuai only.

Luxury Bus Service
by srd130
In my Lijiang transport tips, I mentioned there is a luxury bus service that operates out of Kunming.
YNTAC (I don't know what that stands for) operates Volvo buses equipped with airconditioning, and a television with DVD/VCD. Here are the cities served and prices as of July 2003:
Dali 103 yuan
Lijiang 151
Gejiu 60
Kaiyuan 50
Chuxiong 30
Yuxi 21
Qujing 35
Xuanwei 50
Of course these prices are higher than regular buses, but it is up to you to decide if the extra price is worth it. I took the bus to Lijiang and was very satisfied with the experience and got a free lunch at a nice hotel along the ride in Dali. So if you don't mind spending the extra money, it is a good way to travel in comfort.
Zhu Tong Fan
by honurox about Rice in Banboo shoot
This is not really food on a stick, but more like food in a stick.
Zhu Tong Fan is rice steamed a bamboo stalk, A traditional Bai minority group food. Rice mix with some nuts of some sort and steam inside the shoot.
People seemed to ignore
cotton candy man and preferred Zhu Tong Fan.Like just about anything in China, you can be purchase off the back of a bike. I had not seen to many of these Zhu Tong Fan venders around.
They were selling for 1 RMB a shoot, but before you could eat your Zhu Tong Fan, the vender would have to break it open with a hammer to expose the steamed rice. Because it is cooked under pressure the rise in compacted and more like a chewy paste The only item on the menu!
Karst caves of Jiuxiang
by akikonomu
The caves are formed over 600 million year ago. You can see fascinating staclatites and staclamites in the "Goddess Palace" (Shennugong) cave. With a little bit of imagination, you can see statues of goddesses congregating in their heavenly abodes.
There's also a Bat cave as well as other interesting caves. Also note the "holes" in the rocks formed by erosion (air bubbles generated by the rapid waters running through the caves drill into the rocks to form the holes)
