ps:The purpose of Kunming International Academy, as a private and non-profit institution, is to provide a quality education for the children of the Kunming international community. This education is designed to help develop mature and healthy young adults to achieve their full potential as world citizens.
Kunming International Academy (KIA) is located in Kunming, China, which is in the Yunnan province of southwest China. It is a private educational institution that was established to address the educational needs of expatriate children living in Kunming. Since its beginning KIA has seen its enrollment grow from 14 to now over 200 students. The Academy strives to maintain the best educational environment possible with the resources at its disposal. KIA provides instruction for students from Junior Kindergarten through the 12th grade. Our American style curriculum is designed to serve English speaking students in our student body from more than 17 nations. Continued growth of the student body is expected as more families with school aged children move to Kunming each year.

Travel Tips for Kunming
Street Food - Grilled Satay
by vigi
Saw this good looking boy boy selling Grilled Satay stalls outside Yunnan Minority Cultural Village when I was trying to catch a bus back to Kunming city. A stick of grilled lamb only cost 1Yuan, beef was 0.5Yuan. Delicious!
There is a good sight named...
by tierneyli
There is a good sight named the Golden Palace which locates on Ming Feng Hill on the north of Kunming suburb. It was first founded in 1602. The the famous thing in this sight is the copper-made palace. And I am also very impressed with the very very fresh air inside this area, people there call it the generator of Oxygen. Dont miss it, you can get there by bus no.10, very convenient.
Kunming City Map has all public bus routes
by hooiluangoh
Get the Kunming City Map at any news agent. RMB3.50 each. The bus routes are detailed there in chinese.
The public buses are a convenient way to get around Kunming. Prepare lots of 1 yuan notes/coins. You are required to pay when you get onto the bus, no change is given.
Each bus trip costs 1 yuan. Take the big bus at the proper bus-stops. Avoid the small van-type bus as they may charge more especially if you are a tourist.
Occasionally there are the medium size bus. These are a luxury, because it costs 2 yuan, and provide better quality seats. Because it is more expensive, your chance of getting a seat is bigger.
Some buses are equiped with screen display which shows the next bus stop in both English and Chinese.
Delicious Japanese salad
by hooiluangoh about You Le He Shi
Fast food setting.
Clean and Modern.
Plays Japanese music.
Generous serving of rice.
Delicious Japanese salad sauce.
Rice is better than noodles.
The noodles somehow do not taste like typical japanese Ramen.
Delivery service if you live within 10 min's walk. Japanese salad. Toppings include sliced horseraddish !! The salad sauce is amazingly good. Cost RMB8.
Western Hill
by hooiluangoh
This is a tourist spot many Chinese will visit. The interesting thing about it is that the stone-slabbed path to reach the dragon gate was entirely built by some religious hermits, manually, using simple tools, about 400 years ago.
That place also offers a good view of Dianchi(the biggest lake in Yunnan). From the temple of Dragon Gate, you can see the sheer cliff dropping down to the side to Dian-chi.
Spare at least half a day for this visit.
Admission : RMB 20.
It's also an idea to take the ski lift (RMB15) from Western Hill's mid-level. It goes up to the summit, and the view along the way is spectacular, the air crisp. From there you can take the steps down. This way it is less tiring especially for those who are not used to walking too much.
Note: only the steps from "Dragon Gate" downwards were manually built, the rest were only constructed recently for the sake of the ski-lift.
