Travel Tips for Lijiang

Outside Baisha Village

by John195123

We walked out of Baisha for a while and into the more real/local part of town until the local old cop told us we couldn't go any farther. Oh well. Not many tourists hit this part of town, so it's nice to see some of the real Baisha, as opposed to the tourist section.

Five images.

Get lost in Old Town

by raraavis

There are so many little cobble stoned alleys and bridges and architecture to be explored in Old Town. It's best to take your time, get lost, sit on a second floor balcony of a tea shop and watch life go by. A lot of these tea shops have free internet, games, and books.

Lu Gu Lake - Woman Dominated Civilization

by gigi_huang

Most people, attracted both by the landscape and the unique civilization, come to here aftering bumping for 7 hours from Lijiang.

The sky and the water is so clear that cleans all the dust in your eyes and heart, and purifies your mind. Don't indulge yourself too much, otherwise you'll decide to stay here for the rest of your life just for the peace you feel in the air and the water.

Maybe you heard about the unique marriage customs of Mo Suo people who is the main people living in this area. Man goes to the girl's room for the night and leaves in the morning.

Woman does most of the work and makes decision on family issues. Here what you see is woman carrying huge heavy bags on the back and man sitting beside the lake chatting and playing.
