While the price is a bit steep for a double at about 260 yuan (May 2008) this a quite a nice place. Speak with Andy, the girl who works tirelessly to make your stay a good one, and the only one on staff who speaks English well. She can help arrange drivers, tours and provide information you might need. The courtyard-style of the place makes for a romantic and comfortable stay,
The doors are locked at night, with a padlock, so if you need to leave early to go to the airport, catch the sunrise, et cetera, make sure to arrange it ahead of time.
If it's cold, there is no heat in the rooms, but they do have electric blankets. There is a small restaurant inside, though you might be better off buying some baozi in town and bringing them back to eat on the roof terrace with tea from the hotel. I highly recommend the Moon Inn.
Unique Quality: The rooms have computers with internet, though it may not always be working. Water in miniature containers that look like the light blue five gallon deals are supplied in-room. Quarters are a bit tight, but it's a comfortable stay.
They also have a computer in the open-air lobby.
Directions: Just down the hill from the police station (the only one in town).

1) The room can get a little cold at night and in the morning

This is another popular joint in Lijiang since it comes highly recommended by Lonely Planet and Seattle Times. I wanted to stay in this place initially but I changed my mind after the madding crowds in Lijiang Old Town drove me away.
Still, this is a good alternative for those of you who are looking for mid-priced accomodations in the Old Town.
