Clean toilet facilities in Ancient Town
by stmlnyc
There are a few good toilet facilities in Ancient Town. The 9 jiao fee is a bargain especially compared to the horrendous roadside or gas station facilities for 5 jiao.
These toilets are well worth waiting for!
Lijiang At Night
by John195123
It's not much to do, but just looking out over the town at night is quite nice. It's cooler, quiet- without much of the noise that takes over the rest of Han China, and quite picturesque.

It's more than just a Cafe (Sakura Cafe)
by CGarnett
We spent almost every evening at Sakura Cafe in the Old Town, and it became a place for us to relax, read books, meet new people AND eat (let's not forget that it IS a cafe with great food!). There may be quieter places with a more "authentic" atmosphere, but we believe this one spot truly made our stay special. We became quite close to the staff, and they helped give us tips on transportation and places to see. Oh- and don't let their salespitch on the street put you off. They WILL invite you in (they stop every foreigner on the street and ask them in), but it's not because they are desperate for business. Guess it's just their shtick! ...Oh, and they also have rooms available for guests, and a great library of Lonely Planet guides for SE Asia. One more tip: ask if you can have breakfast on the roof! One of the best views over the rooftops in Lijiang-- I promise!
Songs and Lugu Lake
by jasmine_ding
Lugu Lake is 200 km from Lijiang. The lake is clear, decorated by delicate white flowers in summer. Narrow wooden boats made by hand can take people to a little island. But I preferred the time on boat, enjoying the reflection of the blue sky, the white clouds, the boats and the people, listening to folk songs sung by locals.
There is a unique minority people living here-Mosuo people. They keep some special traditional customs, such as matri-clan system. A grandma is the most respected member of a family, and a man generally lives with the members on his mother’s side.
There are some interesting activities, such as dancing with locals around the camp and wrestling games. Don’t be serious; if you lose the game, the result is not bad, just lying on the ground covered by soft pine needles.
Black Dragon Pool Park - Freedom Forests

This used to be the former gateway of Fuguo Temple which is located 30km to the west. It was built in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1573-1619) and is a double-eaved building with five rooms in width and three rooms in depth.
