Bai Shui He and Blue Moon Valley
by bpacker
Lonely Planet doesn't mention this at all but there is a pristine blue lake at the lower base valley of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It's here where you get the best shot of the Mountain since there are cascading limestone terraces that are almost white in colour.
Tiger Leaping Gorge
by Avieira67
To reach Tiger Leaping Gorge, I took a bus from Lijiang [bus station] until Qiatou. Fare is around 25 CNY. From here, one can go on foot or take a taxi until the entrance [about 6km]. The bus driver asked something to the passengers in Chinese but I didn't understand. She moved us to another bus, and we didn't stop in the official entrance. At the end, they charged for each person 30 CNY [this is crazy!...], and we payed to a non official man 25 CNY to enter to the mountains. Official fare is 50 CNY for adults and, I think, 25 CNY for sudents.
We walked for about 6 -7 hours under a hot sun as far as Tina's Guest House, where I slept. Personally, I didn't like this place because rooms are not comfortable and dogs are used to visit the restaurant. They charge 25 CNY for a bed in a dorm. In the following day, I went down to the river side to the middle Tiger Leaping stone. Some trails are private, so we have to pay to get in [5 to 10 CNY]. I took the way along the river until Walnut Grove, where I caught a direct bus back to Lijiang for about 30 CNY at about 11:30 a.m.

Water is the soul of this old town. It`s been said to be akin to Venice in Italy. 3 main arteries (West River, Middle River & East River) of the flow of water which originates at the Black Dragon Pool are the source of water for the people who live here.

Peace of life
by vitraleus
"A city brings peace into your life"
A lot of people might have found this small city become more commercialized and more noisy. It's just because they haven't been able to find a way to enjoy the peace there. Grab your favourite book, have a cup of coffee, step into any place that looks nice and just sit over there reading your book in the sunshine for a whole day, you'll understand what lijiang means to you.
