The XTBG Hotel is right in the grounds. There are two buildings, the main one (pictured) and a separate block which I believe is considered more upmarket.
We were disappointed with the standard of this hotel as everything was damp. While perhaps to be expected in a tropical, humid environment, it is obvious that not enough guests stay to keep the AC operating very much. The sheets, blankets and everything else felt actually wet, and this was an unpleasant experience - a real pity because everything else was so good at the Botanical Gardens!
There was a TV in the room but I refused to let our children switch it on for fear that it would electrocute them.
The hotel bathroom was abysmal as well. We stayed one night...would have stayed two, but no longer, for health reasons! A really great shame.
Other rooms were clearly being used as long term living accommodation with washing hanging out (to dry???) and there was the usual collection of broken furniture, rubble and disused equipment lying around. Creating an 'ambience' has never been a strong point of Chinese hotels anywhere in China, and here it was really disappointing.
This could all be fixed within two hours by a team of twenty people, but...it just won't happen.
We would stay again, and be disappointed again, because it is the best place in town and it is beautifully situated among the lakes and ponds of the Tropical Botanical Gardens.
