Spectacular Lake views
Stayed in Lakeview Hotel as part of an organised tour of China in August 2006. Found the location breathtaking especially from the Restaraunt on the seventh floor which served breakfast. View alone are worth the price of the room.
Accomodation definitely 4.5 stars and one of the better hotels we stayed in during our tour of China.
Rooms are well appointed even though airconditioner temperature should be lower for my liking. Service great, views worth a $1 Million. No faults or hestitaion in recommending this establishment to anyone wishing to stay in Hangzhou for a few days.
Unique Quality: View from Restruant on the 7th Floor. Lobby well appointed with High end retailers.

Next to Xihu for Good Price
I expected rooms to be more comfortable but reconstruction is going on so the situation will improve from now on. Rooms are very warm which is good during winter and cold spring. Staff is polite and efficient.
Unique Quality: Good chinese restaurant and teahouse on two top floors of the hotel. Be sure to take the right lift.

Where to stay in Hangzhou
Hi, I will be in Hangzhou for 2 days in September with 3 of my friends. This is our first visit. I'd like to find a nice and clean hotel which is close to attractions. Any suggestion ? Debbie

I stayed at Wang Hu hotel (means, lake view hotel). The rooms on higher floors have the view (it is NOT lake FRONT). It is only 5 minutes to the lake, very convenient. Hotel web: http://www.wanghuhotel.com/index-e.htm

You can book with www.ctrip.com or www.elong.com, we used the latter, very reliable and good price (both have the same prices, but slight different list of hotels).

you can choose the West Lake Hotel, just on the opposite side of Hangzhou railway station, 180yuan/day. Hangzhou is a very small city. You don't need to choose a hotel nearby the westlake, generally, the hotels near the lakeside is expensive.

I love the Zhongshan Hotel, it's a 3 star hotel but I think it's the best 3 star hotel I have ever lived. I have been Hangzhou twice and I'm extremely satisfied both times. Their phone number is 0571-87068899.
