Hangzhou hotels- Best Western Premier

Greetings,

I am considering the Best Western Premier- Richful Green hotel which is located on Laozheda Heng Road- however, I am unable to see much details or reviews on this hotel. Would greatly appreciate any advise- for those who have been or stayed, or have seen it...Is this hotel far from the West Lake? It is supposed to be near a train station too, so we were wondering if its good as we intend to take the train from Shanghai.

We have also heard of Elan hotel but the website shows limited English. Any advise?

I stay at Elan Hotel when I am in Hangzhou (4 visits and one next month when I will be again staying at Elan). It is cheap, small but immaculate rooms and close to shops and Westlake and other city sights. About 10 mins from the station and you can taxi or bus easily.

The stations are not that close to Westlake, Hangzhou is a busy city and you will need to take a bus or taxi into the Westlake area each time you want to visit there.

I have been Hangzhou three times and I stayed in Zhongshan Hotel every time. I like there a lot. It's a few blocks from West Lake and close to night market. Everything looks like in the hotel too!

Hi again, and thanks for your suggestions.
I am open to other hotel options as well, but I noted the Best Western Premier does offer very attractive rates! I was just worried of the location.
The last time in Hangzhou we stayed on Jiefang Lu so we could walk to the West Lake very easily.

Cafank- you seem to be an extremely experienced Hangzhou visitor as well! I have looked at Elan inn and they look good- not luxury but clean and compact, which I dont mind. However, I note that they have a few Hangzhou locations- which one were you referring to? And did you book online? The page is almost entirely in Chinese, which unfortunately I don't read. I would appreciate it greatly if you can provide me more info? Thanks a lot!

Yes there're a couple of Elan in town and the one on Xueshi road is very close to the west lake and a Carrefour, which may be convinient if you have to do some emergent shopping.

I must say that I'm not familiar with that hotel.
However, if you could name your price range and dates, I might be able to tell you what other hotels might be suitable for you?

My wife and I are also visiting Hangzhou and have reserved Best Western Premier-Richful Green. We will be there in June, and it is our first trip to China; we are very excited but also very nervous.

Two streets of local stores offering the majority of Chinese wares you could hope to buy. Haggle hard in this concealed bazaar for many items such as painted scrolls, sunglasses, almost real Gucci bags and a variety of clothes. This is Hangzhou’s little secret, popular with the locals where prices can be cut by 50 – 75%. The best bargains can be had when the street is about to close. Come 11pm the stall lights will briefly black out to signify the end of trade, get there around 10pm to browse then snap up anything you have had your eye

Grand Performance at Song Cheng

Do not miss the performance at Song Cheng. The performances were grand and the performers all got very beautiful and colourful costumes. There were performances about the celebration in the Song palace, stories of Liang Shang Bo and Zhu Ying Tai, Madam White Snake and Xu Xian, and also the hero Yue Fei. Towards the end, there were also dances based on Japan, Korea, India themes etc.
