Near silk market
In Hangzhou, we stayed at the Overseas Chinese Hotel. Very convenient for silk and night markets. This hotel had convenient dining facilities, and a good breakfast buffet.

I'm planning to travel from Shanghai to Hangzhou and return to Shanghai for my return flight home. Is it easy to catch the bus? Where is the best place to do this in Shanghai and Hangzhou? I was also thinking of staying at the Ramada Plaza Haihua (298 Qing Chun road), any thoughts on it? Or any better suggestions? thanks...
Bus or train no problem. For Hangzhou best would be Hyatt along the West lake, however be prepared to pay Yuan 1800 per night.Stroll along Westlake and go on a boatride.Visit the village famous for Rung Chin Cha(tea)
Ramada Plaza Haihua is OK, just at the lake bank, very good location.
for transportation, I recommend train. lots of train run between hz and sh.
and takes 1.5~2 hr.
Do you also know that you can catch a CAAC bus directly from Hangzhou downtown to Shanghai Pudong airport? That should be more convenient than returning to Shanghai (BTW, train is recommended over the bus) and then heading out to the airport again.
If you want a good lake-view room, the Overseas Chinese Hotel is quite good. What's your budget like?
hello dear people. we are going to china in septmeber, so does any one budged-midgange hotel in the followin cities, Tianjin-Qinddao-Sushou-Hangzhou-Xiamen
Second question is, we will be inChina around the first of october and I heard that traveling could be a problem is that so?
Thanx
Here is my recommendation for hotels in Tianjin, Suzhou and Hangzhou. All of them are 3 stars and price around 300 per day.
Tianjin, Ocean Hotel:
http://english.ctrip.com/supermarket/hotel/hotel.asp?hotel=6337&StartDate=2006-8-22&DepDate=2006-8-23
It locates in center of the city. It's very convenient and you can view Hai River in room.
Suzhou, Overseas Chinese Hotel:
http://english.ctrip.com/supermarket/hotel/hotel.asp?hotel=1795&StartDate=2006-8-22&DepDate=2006-8-23
It's also in center of the city. It has a very beautiful Chinese style garden.
Hangzhou, Zhong Shan Hotel:
http://english.ctrip.com/supermarket/hotel/hotel.asp?hotel=1978&StartDate=2006-8-22&DepDate=2006-8-23
It's only two blocks from West Lake, one block from a night market. The hotel is also much better than most 3 star hotel.
It will be very crowded everywhere during Oct 1st to Oct 7th. You have to book hotel and transportation early and expect a higher price also.
What's your budget like? Try to be a bit more specific than "budget-midrange".
Yes, it's not easy travelling in China during the 1st week of October, because of the national holiday.
