Tourist maps of Hangzhou
by mke1963
Hangzhou city's municipal website, not quite as sterile as most in China, has a good city tourist map and also a map of Greater Hangzhou.
In true "let's not think this thing out completely" style, the city tourist map is let down by having everything completely translated into English, which means that it cannot be used to show to most taxi-drivers or even passers-by!
The map shows road names and the ten great "sights" of Hangzhou, but no other useful places, so has limited value "in the field". A good initiative though.
The map of Greater Hangzhou is actually extremely useful if used in combination with more detailed maps.
Hangzhou Park

We visited a park in Hangzhou during our trip there. There are many children flying kite in the late afternoon. The park is huge and a temple in the hills can be seen from it. When evening sets in, the area comes alive with the night market just within the vicinity. Plenty of locals taking a walk and doing other outdoor activities such as biking. Such a cool place with lots of greeneries.

In China, there is a very old proverb that says "Hangzhou and Suzhou is the paradises on the earth". It is said that Marco Polo, one of the most famous Italy tourist, visited hangzhou in the 13th centuary, he said, "Hangzhou is the most beautiful city I've ever visited".
Today, there is a statuary of Marco Polo in the bank of the West Lake.

"Hangzhou people"
I came to Hangzhou from Beijing on Oct. 27 2003, and stay here for about 2 months for work. Here, Hangzhou people give me a strong impression that they are very proud of their city. Yes, If I were Hangzhou resident, I would be proud also. God Blessed Hangzhou much more than other places. The comfortable climate, the beautiful West Lake, the green flower everywhere....., I hardly say I don't like Hangzhou.
"Tea Tree Garden"
Hangzhou is famous not only for the beautiful West Lake but also for the Dragon Well Tea,(Long Jin Cha). the picture shows a famous tea village near the suburb of Hangzhou, (Mei Jia Wu Village). There is full of tea tree as shown.
