Reasonable place to stay in HK

For those who have low budget and not so particular about staying this will be the best place , to stay , very convenient location . They do have free 24 Wifi and also free internet access. Ths room its clean but small .

Remember at night , if you do go back after 11 you will need another entrance which is at the back of this Hostel . The funny part it's you will need to queue to for the lift in order to get in your hostel . It will take sometime for queuing to take the lift up .

Unique Quality: There's no breakfast , nothing included , just a room with bed , towel , TV .

A Clean and Centrally Located Hostel In Mongkok

I would recommend the dragon Hostel or the Ah Shan which is also owned by the same people. Both are in the Sincere House in Mongkok. We stayed there last summer and found it to be centrally located and their rooms are small but really clean. You have a lot of choices for shopping, dining, commuting, etc. Since it is small, we took one more bed to put our bags in thus we had the 4-bed bedroom to ourselves. You may want to do the same.

Oh, by the way, just 1 block away from the hostel is a bakery close to the China Travel Service. That bakery has lots of good but really cheap bread which you may want to have for breakfast. Across the street from the hostel building is a 7-11 store. thought you may want to know.

Unique Quality: right on the same street as the Ladies' Market and other tourist attractions.

Finding Accommodation in Hong Kong

As earlier mentioned, Metropark is a 3 star hotel while Anne Black and USA hotel are more like hostels. This means that the Metropark will have bigger rooms, better service and, consequently, higher price. In the Dormitory/hostels, you will have to specify whether you would like one which is an ensuite (meaning you want the bathroom inside your room) or not. At a regular hotel, the rooms will definitely have their own bathroom without need to indicate it.

If you want a hostel in HK, I'd like to suggest you go to Ah Shan Hostel instead. Please read my blog about them at http://pinas-et-al.blogspot.com/2008/04/ah-shan-great.html.

Unique Quality: very clean with a great staff.

A Hostel in the City

Ah Shan is a hostel in Mongkok, Kowloon Island. It's not really a beautiful place but it is highly recommendable because the staff are great and considerate, the place is well maintained and clean, and there's unlimited Wi-fi in the room. The location is ideal because it is right in the heart of the city and it is a few steps to the MTR (the city train that gets you almost everywhere in minutes). It is next door neighbor to the mall and the night market. Check out my Tabi Tabi po Travel blog at http://www.pinas-et-al.blogspot.com.

Unique Quality: It is very clean, cheap and highly recommended by hostelworld.com. It is right in the middle of everything you need and want. The staff are helpful and accommodating.

Mongkok cheapest place

Stay is reasonable enough for the 4 of us ,My wife, son and daughter (13yo and 15 yo). At about HK $440/day. The building is very old and run down BUT the rooms are very clean and aircon. Towels, linen are supplied very clean. Its okay for staying at night as its within the heart of Mongkok shopping street of Argyle,in fact Sincere House is the center for cheap cellphones in Mongkok..But if you are claustropobic then this place is not for you. For us, since we are out most of the time, we just need a safe, clean, cool place to sleep and use of toilet.

Unique Quality: The owners are very friendly and accomodating though they can hardly speak in English..They will help you the best they can..You just have to bring your key specially if you are staying out late. They lock the main door after 11PM

Affordable Accomodation

The place is okay...clean sheets, own bath, phone, tv and internet connection. The owners are very friendly. From the airport, you can get here easily by taking the Citybus. Centrally located...it is in the Mongkok area. Within walking distance to Ladies' Market so shopping is fun here and also near the subway station.

Unique Quality: Fiona, the owner's daughter speaks good English and would arrange free pick-up for you if you find yourself confused in the busy streets of Mongkok.

Often confused with Dragon Hostel at the 7th floor as it is also known as Dragon Inn.

Ah Shan Hostel

Anyone stayed at this hostel? I usually do not book in advance but since we land at 7pm, I do not want to look for accomodation after a 14-hour flight Basically what I would like to know is if it is well located and clean.

Thanks

It is located in the Mongkok area, after you reach HK, you take the airbus and go to Mongkok directly. The location is very crowded, near 'lady street' where there is many bargain goods. Have a happy holiday in HK
