Hi Fellow travellers! I urgently need info on CHEAP accommodation in HK for a couple or so days - just enough time to get a china business visa. Any good advice?

Have a look at my VT Hong Kong page. I have some tips on a couple of guesthouses within your budget.

If there is anything else left to ask, drop me a note.

Cheers,
Robert

Try www.hostelworld.com they actually feature more hotels than hostels in hong kong. Dont just go by the name, once you look at the details you will see they are hotels.

cheap Hotel in Hong Kong

by theNics

Hello

Anybody now a really cheap hotel in central Hong Kong?

Is USD 43.- very cheap?

Thanks for your help
Nicole

RE: cheap Hotel in Hong Kong

by Vita500

Yes, 43 USD is extremely low budget for HK Island. With this amount you can only consider staying at hostels or guesthouses. There is a Youth Hostel on Mount Davis in Western District on HK Island you might want to check out... but I doubt that it's fitting to your needs:
http://www.yha.org.hk/Eng-HostelMountDavis.html

Under www.asiarooms.com, you can get some very good deals for Hong Kong. Hotels on Kowloon side are offered for as low as 60 to 70 USD per night per room. The cheapest one in Central is currently on offer for 86 USD. For hotels, it's not getting much cheaper than that!

Robert

HI! That's a little low for a hotel. As mentioned by the other VTer, try Asiarooms to trawl for bargains. The YHA mentioned is way too off central. I would like to suggest Wang Fatt Hostel or Noble Hostel at Causeway Bay on HK Island (please see my VT pages on HK for its reviews) or try http://www.hostelworld.com and try other economic options. Cheers!

Travel Tips for Hong Kong

They are all over

by dejavu2gb

If skyscrapers are your thing, Hong Kong is the place for you. Where ever you look you will see loads and loads of skyscrapers.
The best views are from Kowloon side at the harbour with Hong Kong Island to the front of you, the views are breathtaking. Even when walking down the street you get a great buzz. The atmosphere, the markets the hustle and bustle is just fantastic.

There are a few things you MUST do in Hong Kong.

1) See the peak during daylight and again when it is dark.
2) Go to one of the markets (Temple Street or Stanley at the least).
3) Eat at Jumbo's (not the best food but a great atmosphere and setting...)
4) Take a tram ride - just take in the sights and sounds.
5) Travel on the Star Ferry in second class - get closer to the water..
6) Go to a horse race at either Happy Valley or Sha Tin.
7) See the temple of 10,000 Buddhas.
8) See some of the other islands apart from Hong Kong Island. My first night when I had a harbour view room in the Excelsior hotel - the view was incredible, watching the planes just miss the flats each time was interesting.

The peak is probably the most important spot people should visit when they come to Hong Kong. Many of the postcard pictures are taken from there. It is especially nice on occasions when there are firework displays in the Victoia harbour.

A trip to Victoria peak is recommended for spectacular views of Hong Kong and Kowloon. A good way to go to the peak would be taking the tram, which is a magnificient experienec. You can also go by car.
