 | Dorsett Seaview Hotel: Value for Money

Have stayet in this hotel for my 2 different visits to Hong Kong. Well I guess they maintained the place well as my first visit was in 2003 and the 2nd visit is in 2007. So there's not much difference in service & room conditions! Maybe for westerners, rooms might be too small! Rooms are small, not ideal for people who like to spend time in hotel, as it has small room, amazingly they still manage to fit in a bathtub! And one more thing, there's no sea view! Name can be deceiving! Hotel is Clean, good & helpful staffs. For budget travellers, who dont want hostel type accomodations, this would be a good choice.
Location is excellent, close by to everything, MRT, shopping, foods, temple, night markets. | Dorsett Seaview Hotel: Great Budget Value and Market Shoping Location

A Standard Room by flyinhigh This is the center of Stanley Street Markets. Literally. If being at the center of shopping is your thing and you're also on a budget, then this is a serious consideration. But don't expect window views and a large room size. That's the sacrifice. But The rooms are clean and functional and it's the location that your after. Apart from Stanley Street markets being at your front door, only six streets away up Nathan Rd are Mong Kok markets. Or one train stop. Yau Ma Tei train station is only a five minute walk from the hotel too. When you step out of the hotel, turn to your left and walk straight ahead. Nathan Rd will be the third street you walk to. Mong Kok will be off to your left while the harbour is off to the right. If you turn left along Nathan Rd you'll only cross one street before you get to the MTR subway, Yau Ma Tei station. If you're doing a quick shopping stop-over for two or three days, or simply on a budget, then I would certainly stay here. GETTING THERE FROM THE AIRPORT BY TRAIN. (It's easy). Grab an MTR rail map first from the airport information booth. When you leave the airport via the train, get off at the very next train station, Tsing Yi, and switch trains to the Tung Chung train line. This is marked as the orange line on the rail map. You'll continue to travel towards the direction of Central on Hong Kong Island. At the very next train station, Lai King, switch trains again. You'll jump on board the Tsuen Wan line, coloured as red on the MTR rail map. Travel along this line and get off at the seventh train station, Yau Ma Tei. Leave Yau Me Tei station via exit 'C' exit. This exit brings you out at Nathan Rd. There, turn right and walk down Nathan Rd and turn right at the second street, Public Square Street. Walk down to the third street, Shanghai St, and you're at the hotel. It's only a five minute walk. The MTR web site produces very clear location maps. You may want to check out station exits and hotel locations there. Go to: http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/homepage/e_customer_index.php
The restaurant for breakfast was good value at only HK$55 each and was located on the 19th floor. It was a small buffet with basic hot foods, fruits and cereals. The views were impressive too as we sat beside one of the floor to ceiling windows.
