leaving luggage in kowloon

by timewaster

Are there any places in Kowloon TST where i can leave my luggage for 1 week?
I know there is one at the airport, but I prefer not to carry it to/from the airport if i can help it.

Would a hotel be able to hold my luggage for 1 week?

I think a hotel should be able to keep your luggage for you, likely with a charge. Keeping it at the airport is expensive.

Most hotels where you stay will have a storage space to keep lugguage. Does not hurt to ask. I left my lugguage in Hong Kong for weeks when I stayed in the Holiday Inn golden Mile on Nathan Road. They welcome me back when I returned.

Cheers Tommy x

I'd say try the hotel you are staying with, this is usually not a problem since it's only one week, I shouldn't think they'd be bold enough to ask for a charge. Other than that, the airport is the only alternative although like they have mentioned, it's not cheap.

Travel Tips for Hong Kong

Egg tarts -- A favourite of Hong Kong's governor

by adasyau

Tai Chong Bakery, famous for its egg tarts, which are a favourite of Chris Patten (the last governor of Hong Kong), is located at 35 Lyndhurst Terrace, easily accessible from Central. There is a branch on 5/F., New Century Place, Mongkok East Station and another one is in Kwun Tong.

The sugared "egg ball", somewhat like a donut but is more buttery and fluffy, is also delicious.

If you can read Chinese, go to www.taichongbakery.com for details.

Bring a "Cheat Sheet" for exchange rates...

by TravelChick67

Sometimes, you may be visiting a place where the exchange rate is very easy to convert in your head and sometimes you're not.

We usually always bring a cheat sheet so that we never have to second guess how much we're paying for something.

Don't under estimate how the effects of traveling, jetlag, being in different surroundings, etc. will effect you. You may think you're thinking fine, but you might not be! LOL

Never hurts to have a little help :)

When you go to Hong-Kong, you...

by Carlo-B.

When you go to Hong-Kong, you may choose to stay in an Hotel in Kowloon (on the continent side) or in the island of Victoria. I would say that kowloon is better because from there you'll always have the amazing view of the Hong-Kong's unique Skyline.
Visit the famous nathan road (Kowloon) , which has an astonishing night's lights and the most famous stores to shop. Visit the night market in temple street (Kowloon) and the Kowloon park. Take long walks along the Waterfront of kowloon. You absolutely have to visit the island of victoria and walk around the narrow chineese street around the Holliwood street. Visit also the stanley market (Victoria island) and the bid ocean Park (Victoria Island). Then try the peak expecerience by taking the peak-tram (Victoria isalnd). The narrow streets of Victoria's island.

South shore of Hong Kong Island 1965

From the top of the Peak Tram I also walked down the other side of Hong Kong.

As I wrote in one of my letters:

Down the other side to the South China Sea and along the road to Aberdeen, where tens of thousands of Chinese live in the harbour in junks -- a veritable floating slum. And a ways down the road from Aberdeen towards Repulse Bay there's a stretch of wooded, windblown coast that is completely uninhabited, like the north shore of Lake Superior. And then Repulse Bay itself with its gleaming hotels and sandy beaches.
