spacious rooms

lovely room with magnificent views lovely staff.
they have a gymnasium and a laundromat which came in very handy because we have small chidren. it was abit out the way but was in a quiet location and had the mtr right across the road which was very handy.

Unique Quality: we had the harbour club room which was lovely and spacious.it had a wonderful views across the harbour.
the pool had a circular kids pool which our kids enjoyed. but no bar by the pool you had to order drinks and they would bring them up to you.

Five-star luxurious hotel

This hotel is actually located in Hung Hom, Kowloon. Service was fantastic, e.g., rooms were cleaned as many times as deemed necessary (the best part of it was that you didn't have to call for room service for it!) You will be greeted daily by all employees and assistance is always offered. Free bus shuttle to shopping areas (Tshim Sha Tsui) is available every 30 minutes from 7am to 11:30pm, enough time for you to wander around the whole day and not worry about transportation back to the hotel. If in case you stay out later than 11:30pm, taxis are available 24/7 and fare is quite inexpensive. A 15-min drive out to the main city cost between $2-3, best part of it, no tips are required. Hotel also provide wedding and meeting services. This hotel is known for hosting weddings. Eleven days out of the 13-day stay we saw wedding ceremonies. Why do people choose this hotel? First of all, Harbour Plaza (Hung Hom) has one of the best ocean-views, which couples take this opportunity for their photographies. Food is superior, staff service is mind-boggling, hotel is grand, and it's just one of the best!!! (You will concur to this once you visit this hotel).

Unique Quality: Great ocean-views, outdoor pool and sauna, well-staffed gym with plenty of exercise equipments, breakfast/lunch/dinner buffet, bar and grill, cafe spot, Japanese (sushi) and Chinese cuisine (dim sum), spa services available from 7am-10pm, free internet connection, free voltage converter (must have!!!!), FREE bus shuttle to main shopping center.

Harbour Plaza - North Point

This is a good, basic 4-star hotel at North Point. I was impressed with the whole place, but nothing special stood out. The room was fine, I didn't use any of the restaurants but the bar served good coffee. Note that two taxi drivers mistook my saying "Harbour Plaza" for "Hilton". No idea why. The hotel is just off King's Road and so is convenient for the tram, buses and the Metro. It is also easy for getting across to Kowloon, as the tunnel is not far away. I got to Hung Hom Station in just a few minutes in the middle of the rush hour.

Nice Hotel - good rates

It's a friendly hotel away from the main drag.
They have apartments for rent as well as rooms.

Unique Quality: Views are not the best but the restaurant is fine and the swimming pool is ok.

More about Harbour Plaza North Point Hotel Hong Kong

Fantastic trip

by TripAdvisor Member UKONE

We stayed for four nights at the Harbour Plaza North Point, in June 2007. We booked a one bedroom suite and overall our experience was fantastic.
The one bedroom suite is fabulous and great for the money.
Its only a couple of minutes' walk from MTR Quarry Bay station, there is a local supermarket directly opposite which is great.
The staff were always helpful, plus on the day we were leaving they let us have our room for half a day extra at no charge.
We enjoyed our stay at and will go there again 100% for sure!

Best value in Hong Kong

by TripAdvisor Member Schnapper

We stayed for a week at the Harbour Plaza North Point, in January 2007. We booked a one bedroom suite and overall our experience was very positive.

The hotel's location is way out in the suburbs on Hong Kong Island. Its immediate surroundings is mainly offices buildings and there are very few shops nearby. However, its only a couple of minutes' walk from MTR Quarry Bay station, there is a local supermarket directly opposite and a Cafe de Coral (cheap meals) next to that. The hotel is 7 MTR stops from Central, about 12 - 15 minutes' travelling time.

The one bedroom suite is fabulous value for money. It has a living/dining room, kitchenette, bedroom and generous bathroom. Unusually for a hotel room, there is stacks of cupboard space. The furnishings are quite tasteful, with the exception of a ghastly carpet pattern. Please, HPNP, do yourselves a favour and upgrade this!

The staff were always helpful. When we complained of a bad smell in our initial room, we were promptly moved to a new room that was very satisfactory.

We booked our room for about US$138 per night. This has to be about the best value anywhere in Hong Kong.

A tip: Ignore the hotel laundry service. Go down the side street on the way to the MTR, and there are two laundries down there. We used one of them and paid HK$23 for up to seven pounds of laundry. Down the same street you'll find the most bakeries that produce fantastic rolls and buns that make a great breakfast, for absolute peanuts.

We enjoyed our stay at HPNP and will go there again, for sure!

Would pass on this one next time....

Stayed here for 2 days in mid-February 2007. I Pricelined the hotel, and the room was US$95 a night. A decent price for HK, but on the other hand the room I had on the 10th floor was very average. Staff was friendly and efficient. I went to nearby Coral Cafe for breakfast...clean, local, but decent food at a very reasonable price. The Quarry Bay MTR station is a 3 minute walk from the hotel, so that's a plus. But overall I'd not return.

Need a serious refreshment

by TripAdvisor Member Ga_Ma_Be

The hotel looks good but rooms seriously need to be refreshed.
Don't ask the front desk about internet connection as they have no idea about it works (even if it is written everywhere to ask them for there wireless connection...)
The buffet is quite the same every night and as the hotel is not central you don't have many choices to eat around.

good value / money; small rooms; good location to subway

by TripAdvisor Member LondonAsiatravller

My son & I had a double room while attending the Rugby 7s (March 30-April 1). We pricelined the room at 50% of suggested 4 star rate, and considering how everything doubles or trebles in price during the 7s, felt we got value.

Small room, hard beds. No problems with internet. (hkd 140 / day).

Hotel is very convenient to Quarry Bay Subway Exit C (200m) and we ate a great omlette breakfast every morning at "Cafe de Coral" in the same street for HKD 18 pp. Diagonally across from the McDonalds is a service laundry which washed & folded our clothes for HKD 35 (or the cost of one shirt with the hotel laundry).

A small but serviceable fitness club with 2 treadmills, one cross trainer, a bicycle and a rowing machine. A few lifting stations and a stretching area. Gym ball and dumbell rack. Outdoor pool was closed until April 5.

You won't entertain clients here, but a good tourist hotel.

Get a good rate or go elsewhere

by TripAdvisor Member Type_B

The rooms are nice and this hotel is acceptable as long as you get a really good rate. I did not get my wake up call and my messages never arrived, an issue with food making my guest sick and the pool was closed and due to open the day after I left with no consideration to allow entry the day before. It is a bit of a way from 'the action' of LKF/Central and Wanchai but the MTR is great. The supermarket opposite is a god send and there are some eaterys for breakkie nearby. Only if you get a good rate - try anything but definately do not pay rack rate - much better hotels closer to Central. G

Need help choosing a hotel, please.

by sparklyrocks

Hi all,

I need a hotel close to Taikoo Shing and have narrowed it down to:

Newton Inn North Point
Harbour Plaza North Point
Grand Plaza*

*On the Grand Plaza webpage I got the impression that these are apartments, and only monthly rates are published. Does anyone know if I have to rent a whole month?

Which hotel should I choose?

Thank you!

Re: Need help choosing a hotel, please.

by Jolaz

In terms of proximity, Grand Plaza is the closest to Taikoo Shing. However I am not too sure if the hotel still offer daily rate or not, as the hotel has turned into a service apartment, and that's why you could only find monthly rates there. You could try to email them to see if they allow daily rate.

Harbour Plaza North Point is the newest among the three. It's actually in Quarry Bay area. However there is nothing nearby except the Funeral Home. So you may decide whether you like to stay here or not.

Newton Inn North Point, a common place for Chinese visitor from China, and you need to take either the tram, the bus or the MTR before you could arrive Taikoo Shing. I think the hotel is closer to Fortress Hill MTR station, and in this way, you are 3 stations away from Taikoo Shing.
