Hotel Jen

Whilst booking this Hotel I was looking at pics of this hotel and it all seemed very familiar except for the name, turned out that we had stayed here before when it was called Novotel.
So it was a familiar experience when we retuned to stay.

The Hotel has had a revamp and it looks fresh and new and it shows with the experience we had.
The staff were very helpful and friendly especially at the breakfast service when one of the staff members saw me and rememebered that I liked Worcester Sauce with my eggs, and specially went to fetch it from the Bar area and brought it to me, so very thoughful indeed.

The hotel is on Hong Kong Island, and only about 20 minutes by bus or Tram to Central.
If you need to catch a cab back from Central the fare was not very much at around $40 or so.

We stayed there just after they re-opened after their revamp and their prices were very very low, so we got outstanding value for money. (we had another hotel booked and cancelled to stay here instead, so saved lot of money, and had a very good experience)

Unique Quality: In a local area of Hong Kong, so very nice wandering around the streets and seeing where the local people go for their day to day business and seeing all the variety of local shops and what they have to offer.

The Hotel also offers a very nice Rooftop Swimming Pool, I would recomment going up to have a look around as the views are very nice, and if the Hong Kong Heat gets too much, have a dip in the pool, or a quick workout in the Gym, to work off all the fabulous food you will eat whilst in Hong Kong.

new building & located near the HK train station.

I stayed for one night only in earlier September/2008 and found this hotel very nice and its location very convenient since it's closer to the Airport Express train station and also near the ferry terminal to/from mainland China. [MF/2008]

Living near the Western District

My friends and i stayed there for 2 nights. The hotel is newly furbish and all is very nice and beautiful.

It is not really near to any MTR station. However, City Transfer is provided at a fixed schedule to a few location. Check with the hotel staff for the schedule.

I was bunking in with some friends and I did not pay a cent for the stay. Unsure of the prices.

novotel century-quite good

It's a nice hotel situated in wanchai very near to the ferries and 10minutes walk from market.
You pay what you get, a medium class service.Great if you are visiting Hong Kong during fairs it's one block away from the conference center and not as pricy as the rest at that days of the year.

great views

We had actually booked this hotel by mistake. We thought we were booking the Century Hotel, not the Century Harbourview Hotel. It was a bit further from the centre than we intended, but we liked the look of it, so we stayed. It was also slightly cheaper than the other one. This was back before both hotels were part of Novotel.

It was a good hotel; not one of the top-end "rock star" hotels, but very good. Service was great; the rooms large, modern, and clean; and the en-suite bathrooms full and luxurious.

We would stay there again and recommend it to others. It's a good value hotel.

Unique Quality: Spectacular views overlooking the harbour

More about Hotel Jen Hong Kong

Western District Hotel

by snux_849 about Novotel Century Harbourview

The hotel has good facilities. The service is good. The staff are very attentive, reliable and are quick to respond to requests. Since the hotel's name has "Harborview" in it, the first thing I checked out when I got to the room was indeed the harbor view. I saw the teeny weeny bit of harbor. Hahaha! But it doesn't really matter-- what matters most is the good facilities and the attentive staff.

The hotel is in the Western disctrict where the streets are filled with shops, and stalls that vendors set up along the side walks. In the early mornings, there is a restaurant right across the street that serves good dim sum!

The hotel is about $30-40 by taxi from Central. It is also accessible by tram. The tram stop is less than 5 mins walk from the hotel. They also have a shuttle that drops/picks you up in designated points.

Value-for-money with service deluxe!

by June.b about Novotel Century

Stayed for I gues 4 or 5 nights during my third visit as a part of my stopover holidays in HK.

The Novotel Century Harbourview is ideally located near the Victoria harbourfront with a great view of the harbour from the room. The MTR station is a bit-far-15-min walk but the hotel has its own shuttle service for free for getting around, plus, if you take the walk, you'll surely find bargain shops around the hotel.

As far as I can remember, the breakfast was hefty and plenty of choices. We were on the top floor so we've got to have a nice view of the harbour with a ceiling2floor glass pane, and a soft bench across the glass pane that is just perfect if you want to take a nap while watching the activity down below or the ocean. The room was spacious with all the amenities - TV with english channels, minibar, clean spacious bathroom.

No complain... the best part is .... staff are very friendly and helpful, in a place where I found rude and disparaging McDonald's service crews (or screws!).

Novotel Century

by tvdm

A clean and quiet hotel in the city centre. Lots of activity nearby and public transport is excellent so you're really only a short distance away from anywhere. The rooms are a tad on the small side but it's Hong Kong so space comes at a premium anyway. There's a pool, sauna and great spacious bar for a quiet cocktail!

On the Western District

by ahoerner about Novotel Century Harborview

Relatively well-located in the Western District, this hotel offers everything the normal tourist would like to have during the stay.

Service is friendly although not perfect, very good breakfast, internet facilities in the lobby bar and nice accomodations are its qualities.

To reach downtown or Central Station from the hotel you have two options: take a taxi, or simply leave the hotel, cross the street and on the near corner take your left down the road until you reach Des Voeux Rd. West. Just wait for the double-decker tram and have fun in HK!

pleasantly surprised

by TripAdvisor Member frontline

We have just returned from two nights at Novotel Century Harbourview. Our initial room was on the 28th floor and whilst we had an excellent view of the harbour it was a smoking room and therefore we changed to a non smoking room on the 24th floor. We were very pleased with the room - it was clean and tidy. We had a buffet breakfast and also an evening meal in the main restaurant which we thought was a reasonable standard and very good value.
We found all the hotel staff to be very helpful. The hotel was located away from the main business area although we were happy to walk into this area. We also made use of the free hotel bus service and the tram line (only $2) was very close by.
I would recomend this hotel to anyone looking for value for money.

awful experience

by TripAdvisor Member ilovebali

We stayed in this hotel two nights and it was an awful experience.
We booked and paid in advance two rooms through Cathay and when we arrived the staff couldn't find our bookings. after one hour the booking materialised and although we had already paid my credit card was charged again 2000 HK$, just in case.
When I protested I was informed that the money would have been returned within 21 days (!) to my account!
It goes without saying that the ladies at the concierge were absolutely of no help and quite arrogant.
The rooms were a bit worn and my bathroom dirty, both the basin and the bathtub.
The view is on old buildings and the hotel location is quite far from the nearest underground station.
What else? It was terrible.

Region 4 DVD

by Fyldeaccy

I am going to NZ via HK in a couple of weeks and I wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction to buy a present of Rodgers and Hammerstein Collection. Are there any `specialist` dvd shops on HK I could try. I am staying overnight at Novotel Century Harbourview if this is of any help.
Thanks
