Hotel Novotel Hong Kong Citygate
by mike2873
Hi
I'll be in Hong Kong for 3 days in July together with my two daughters (11,12 years old)
I plan to bring them to Hong Kong Disneyland and I was thinking of staying in Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin but i was told that it is too far so now I'm thinking of staying in Hotel Novotel Hong Kong Citygate
my question please is it far from Disneyland and from down town and what transportation i could get if i want to go around from the hotel
thanks

The best way to get to Hong Kong Disneyland is taking the MTR (underground/subway). So, pls check the hotel whether it closes to the MTR station.

i stayed at the novotel citigate before. its great compared to the city hotels. please use that hotel if u r thinking of disneyland. the hotel is connected to the mtr station through the shopping mall. very short walk and its only a short ride away to disneyland. i dun remember a disneyland shuttle from the hotel. only airport shuttle every half hr.

Hotel Novotel Citygate is close to aiport, disneyland and big buddha, but far away from city, at least 45 minus travel by MTR or by bus. If by MTR, need to change other transportation to other popular shopping areas as well. Given you will not stay long in hk and want a hotel close to disneyland, novotel can be a good choice.
Travel Tips for Hong Kong
Bank of China Tower
by bryINpoland
The Bank of China Tower was completed in 1989, and at the time was the tallest building in Asia, and the first buidling outside the United States to stand over 1,000 ft tall. It is Headquarters to the Bank of China, and officailly measures 1,033 feet high. If you count to the top of it's 2 masts, it's over 1,209 feet. 70 stories of office space!
The buidling is now the 3rd tallest building in Hong Kong, behind the IFC Building (International Finance Center) and Central Plaza. One of the most impressive things about the BOC Tower, is it's external light show it puts on every night. Thousands of lights dance their way up and down the exterior of the buidling every night, making the BOC Tower easily stand out amongst the Hong Kong skyline.
Star Ferry
by hkgirl
The Star Ferry goes between Tsim Sha Tsui where a lot of the hotels are and Central. It is very cheap and a short ride, but the views are great. There are many bus routes that have terminals in the Star Ferry Terminal, as well as the MTR Tsim Sha Tsui Station. On the Central side, you end up near all the action - the banking district and everything.

This was 1997, pre-handover, so I don't know if this is even an option any more, but we went to the Royal Races and had a really great time. We paid a little extra to get into the 'exclusive' section, with access to the warm-up ring and, of course, plenty of betting booths. I don't know the first thing about horse racing, but it was lots of fun.
Chinese New Year
by arv1
If possible, try and visit Hong Kong just after the Chinese New Year, flights into Hong Kong are slightly less busy but the atmosphere is still there. The decorations are really pretty too! It was amaaazing There are a lot of things I miss!! I miss:
the heat
the people
the shops!!
the scenery
and after i went to the Po Lon Monestary
the great veggie food!
A Cup of Coffee at Peninsular Hotel
by SLLiew
While most budget may not be right for a night at Hong Kong landmark Peninsular Hotel, everyone can afford a cup of coffee in the restaurant.
This hotel has green Rolls Royces to pick up guests from airport. There is a boutique of shops inside for the discerning rich and high spending cliente. Many Japanese tourists like to flock to this hotel too. And others too just to check out why this hotel has gained its high reputation.
Located at the tip of Kowloon and walking distance from Star Ferry.
