Marco Polo Gateway is the best hotel I have stayed at in Hong Kong, not that I have tried any other hotel. Great breakfast, for Filipinos, that is. Concierge allowed us to leave or stuff with them from check out at 12 noon till 6 pm allowing us more time to make last minute shopping nearby.. Ferry terminal to HK island was a mere 10 minute walk, add five minutes and you are at the HK Space Museum, add 3 minutes you are at the Avenue of the Stars. Lots of things to do. Walking around the nearby areas at night was safe. Bad side, however, was the price and the furnishings. We had a view of the next building and the bed covers and carpets were old (but clean)... it was really no big deal as we stayed in the hotel only to bathe, rest or sleep.

Unique Quality: Since it is an old hotel built at a time when space was not yet a luxury, the room and bathroom are really huge.

Hotel with excellent service for business travellers or tourists.

Great location with window overlooking Victoria Harbor. Hotel is located on a higher floor in Harbor City - a shopping mall complex of shops and restaurants. Walking distance to Star Ferry, Kowloon Park and Nathan Road.

Got a complimentary stay here from Cathay Pacific due to a trans Pacific stopover. Decided to stay a few days more. No regrets.

nearest to shopping and transportation

hong kong is propbably my favorite destination... i must say... on the past 10 years, i have probably went to hong kong around 30 times. i love the shopping, the night life...

Unique Quality: hong kong has a unique culture aside from the rest of china... since it was a british colony, most of the things you find in london are most likely in hong kong...

More than a shopping-complex hotel !

Unique Quality: Unparalleled position in the very center of where the action is, and yet quiet and refreshing. Good and helpful staff.

Great view, great service

A very nice hotel with great staff.

The main reception area is quite plain and standard - but the rooms are good quality and massive for China/Hong Kong.

Make sure you get a harbour view room and if possible check out the room before you pay (some are older than others).

The pool and other facilities are quite standard - but not really the sort of town you want to sit in a pool anyway.

Unique Quality: The Harbour view rooms give breathtaking views of the Hong Kong Harbour... why stay on the busy siude with a view of another skyscrapper's wall when you can view the whole harbour for half the price on the Kowloon side?!

The staff were very friendly and polite and made our stay very comfortable.

A shoppers paradise

A Shopper's Ideal Hotel

It's a rather small hotel even though it is under a hotel group. We were checked in by the Guest Relations Manager and I can say that she certainly don't deserve her designation. She displayed an aloof manner during the check-in and and thus, we as guests, don't feel welcome at all.
Room wise, it was considered spacious compared to other HK hotels. The other plus point is that it's linked to Harbour City and there are rows of eateries for you to choose around the hotel too.

Unique Quality: From my understanding, there is no facility available in this hotel, however you may walk over to the sister hotels to make use of their facilities without any charge.

A comfortable hotel witha great location

The Marco Polo Hongkong is a comfortable 4* hotel with a good Kowloon location, especially if you are in Hong Kong for shopping.
