Newton Place Hotel

by U24AngelEyes

I posted a bit ago about going to Hong Kong in november and staying at the Regal Oriental. Now it seems we will be staying at the Newton Place hotel (not the Newton, confusing or what?!?!?!). Has anyone stayed at this hotel?

Thanks.

I'm not able to tell you anything about the hotel but its location in Kwun Tong is not very central. With so many hotels in HK it would be much better to stay closer to sightseeing, shopping etc although the MTR system is incredibly efficient.

Travel Tips for Hong Kong

So many different Neighborhoods

by Boca24

Okay the toughest thing for me to figure out is the layout of Hong Kong.

You have got Central - the main business center

Kowloon is where you find more tourist, especially in Tsim Sha Tsui.

New Territories - Area north that connects with the PRC, less developed then Central and Kowloon - worth visiting not sure staying there.

Outlying Islands - HK has about 260 other islands, there are some that are larger like Lantau, many are unihabited, also many provide the opportunity for people to hike and explore the less developed parts of Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Tip

The last time I was there was just before the hand-over in 1997. This trip was particularly memorable because I was with all my favorite female family members...my Mom, my grandma, my grand-aunts, and my two sisters!

The heart of Hong Kong is...

The heart of Hong Kong is Victoria Harbour you can't miss it! It is definately on my top 5 lists of best harbours in the World. An abosolute must is to ride the Star Ferry across from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island (cost is $HK 2.20 for the Upper Deck and $HK 1.70 for the lower deck). The one thing I always keep dreming about when I think of Hong Kong is, of course, Hong Kong at night. The lights of Hong Kong are the most fabulous in the World. Something about the view (from Kowloon or Victoria Peak) of Hong Kong Island at night that is stunning. Make sure to walk along the waterfront in Kowloon day and night to see the lights.

At the airport

My fellow classmates from graduate school and I organized so-called 'Convention Tour' to Hong Kong where convention industry has been advanced. During our stay, we had meeings with distinguished convention industry players such as in TDC, Convention Center and some exhibition organizers.

Central

Head to Statue Square in the heart of the Central Business District on a Sunday. It is blocked off to traffic and packed with people enjoying their day off - eating picnics, playing cards or browsing the little market stalls.
