Location, location, location

Location, location, location is often described as the three most important criteria for a piece of property.

The Renaissance Harbour View has all of them.

Located in the Wanchai area, next to the Central Plaza and served by numerous elevated walkways, you can't ask for better deal than this.

Since this was my maiden trip to Hong Kong, I have heard stories of Hong Kong hotels being small and cramped like the apartments that the native residents live in. I was wrong. The room is a sprawling 28 sq meters. A luxury in Hong Kong standards. There was a king bed and still enough room for an extra bed for my eldest daughter.

I didn't secure a harbour view room but the harbour can still be seen as a reflection from the opposite hotel building as seen in this picture.

With the various Hong Kong cha chan tings in the area, we didn't eat in the hotel. All-in-all, a great hotel thanks to its location.

Unique Quality: It has a pool that is shared with the Hyatt next door. Harbour view rooms are Renaissance Harbour View's equivalent to what a beach side resort would call beach view rooms. You can see Victoria Harbour through your room window in full view.

The Golden Bauhinhua Square is very near and in walking distance. Wanchai Star Ferry Pier is also very near and you can get across Victoria Harbour to Tsim Sha Tsui for a mere HKD2.00 ferry fare.

Also in walking distance is Johnston Road. From Johnston Road, you can take the ubiquitous trams of Hong Kong to Causeway Bay for shopping around the area.

HARBOUR VIEW!!

Great hotel, high quality services and very friendly staff.
It's the best choice if you are visiting Hong Kong during fairs, not as pricey as the Hilton that is next building. The hotel is connected with the conference center building through the shopping center.

On the Island

This hotel is in a great location on the island. It is connected to many different hotels and mass transportation lines which make it VERY efficient to get where you want to go. Although the rooms are a little small, efficiency is the name of the game

Unique Quality: Walkways to everything!!!

Harbourside Hong Kong

The Harbour View was eveything that I expected a fairly modern Renaissance hotel to be. The room was in good condition, good bed, good linen etc But that isn't why I stayed here. It was the view!

Unique Quality: From the 26 th floor, the view through the floor to ceiling glazing was amazing .
Unfortunately my photographic skills weren't up to capturing the evening fireworks display.

A great central position for exploring

Extensive facilities including air conditioning, alarm clock, coffee and tea service, iron and ironing board, safe, hairdryer, cable/satellite tv, mini bar and pay per view movies.
The hotel has a very comfortable pool area surrounded by glass skyscrapers.
The hotel also offers an excellant concierge service and you can book tours from the hotel.

Unique Quality: If you book a room at this hotel you have the option of a garden view room or a harbour view room, we opted for the harbour view and we were not dissappointed. Our room was on the 33rd floor with a fantastic view, to the left Central District and to the right Causeway bay and in front a panoramic view of the harbour, Kowloon and the New Territories.

Great view

One of the many hotels in Hong Kong with a harbour view, the Renaissance is right beside the Exhibition Centre, a short walk from Wan Chai MTR station and even closer to the earthy delights of Wan Chai nightlife.

Tip 1 - Want a view?
Not all the rooms have a harbour view, so if that is important (and I think it's worth it) then you need to specify it and of course pay a little extra for it.
Tip 2 - Breakfast
Try to get breakfast included, it is a really good hot and cold buffet with western and cantonese food, would see you through the day but it costs HK$180-ish, so not cheap.
Tip 3 - Airport Express Transport
There is a free shuttle-bus to the Hong Kong Airport Express station, but the hotel staff don't like to tell you this - they would prefer you paid for their limo service. The shuttle runs every 20-30 mins and takes 10-15 mins depending on traffic.

A Wonderful View!

We chose this hotel as we wanted a view over the harbour....& we weren't disappointed!

Our room was on the 34th Floor and had an amazing view over the harbour.

The rooms were lovely....very simple, but they had panaramic floor to ceiling windows, and multiple dimmable lights.

The service was excellent, attentive but unobtrusive.

Breakfast was wonderful - but expensive!

Unique Quality: The View!

Opinions On Renaissance Harbour View hotel ?

by magpie99

Hi! I will be staying at the Renaissance Harbour View hotel for 3 nights in July this year en route to Australia.Has anyone stayed there recently & could anyone who has stayed there give an honest iopinion of the the hotel & it's facilities. Also from looking at maps it seems to be ideally located - can anyone confirm this please ?

I haven't stayed there myself but I've been living almost opposite for nearly two years. I also visited some colleagues who stayed at the Renaissance and could therefore have a look at the rooms.

Location: Splendid! Right in front of Victoria harbour and the HKCEC, about 5 minutes from Wanchai (subway) station and 2 mins from Wanchai ferry. Lots of restaurants, entertainment, etc. are within walking distance.
Rooms: They do have several categories but the ones I have seen were quite spacious, clean and cosy with all the usual equipments... and nice views from the upper floors.
Facilities: The Renaissance shares its large outdoor pool, garden and tennis courts with the adjacent Grand Hyatt hotel on the 11/F. - with a gorgeous view across the harbour.

I'm sure you will have a great time!
Enjoy,
Robert
