    Relaxing place in Hong Kong

    by

Silvermine is located on a bay. Great beach. Place to relax from the noise of Hong Kong. Great for family vacation. Location is on same island Disneyland is located. Silvermine is a good 30 min. ride from airport and 1 hour ride to Hong Kong. A ferry service is available to go to Hong Kong (30 min. ride). If a relaxing resort away from the city crowd and noise if what you are looking for, this is the place.

Unique Quality: Nice rooms. Nice beach. Good resturants. Good rates. Far from attractions and city. Transportation available...i. e. taxi, bus, or ferry boat.

    Directions: On Lantau Island

  • great name for hotel

    by

Ab fab place to stay, though nearly an hours drive (by taxi for us) part way around the island, it is away from the hustle and bustle of all the highrises near the airport, and is set in allmost a non touristy spot, or that is what it feels like, the hotel is a family run business who also own and run the ferry services from and to the other islands which is a two minite walk away, the family are great nothing is too much trouble, have a lovley big restaurant with a smaller cosier one off set, which is used as a bar , they have 3 computers there, that are free to residents, so you can check your emails, one thing is they have no lift so lugging suitcases up and down the stairs is a bit of a pain, but they will send someone to help, they have a pool we didn't actually use, lack of time, a gym wich is small but good, and it is quite a big place, set on a beach in a lovely bay. The surroundings are almost as though the hotel wasn't there, completley unspoilt and as the locals live.

Unique Quality: very goodviews, mountains behind and the sea in front just a fab place, will be going back for a week in sept 07, facilities are second to none except the lack of a lift, is only threestorey though i think, room we had was basic but had everything we needed, hairdyer, tea facilities, air con, breakfast is great they put you up everything you could need, continental, cereals, toasts, traditional, and you can help yourself. they are quite happy to do anything anytime of day, toasties, sandwhiches, etc drinks.

Relax a Ferry Ride away from the City

    by

I really enjoyed my stay at the Silvermine Beach Hotel. I booked 3 nights through STA Travel which included a buffet breakfast, which included lots of LYCHEES!! The breakfast was well worth it, and the restaurant was lovely, facing the water. A relaxing last few days of my holiday were what I was after and the Silvermine Beach Hotel on Lantau Island delivered.

Unique Quality: Gym, pool, sauna, television and broadband access. Right across from the beach and a short walk from the shops. On the same island as the giant Buddha. A ferry trip away from Hong Kong Island.

Directions: From Mui Wo Ferry Wharf walk to Silvermine Beach. Now look across from the beach. Voila!

More about Silvermine Beach Hotel

lovely lantau

by shipwayj

myself , my parents and hubby were on our way to Australia last october 06, and stopped for a day and a half either side of our flights, arrived on lantau island and stayed at silvermine beach hotel, which was nice, serene and peaceful, what you need after all that travelling and airport nonsense, on our way home, decided we hadn't seen anything of the island and caught a taxi (very lazy i know) up to the cable car, can't remember the proper name ning pong or something, apparently only finished july 2006, whilst walking around we realised the Buddha and Monastry were there as well, and had a fantastic day, chilling but also felt like we had actually done quite a lot in one day, it was just brilliant, not that i am religous or anything but it was what it was all about and HK, culture and lifestyle for that particular region, i loved it peaceful, serene despite being loads of people, tourists like us!

There are two:

1.) Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel
2.) Disney's Hollywood Hotel

Both are top notch hotels within 5 minutes to Disneyland.

Check the following link for details:

I found a "SILVERMINE BEACH HOTEL" on Lantau Island...anyone been there? Do you know how far it is from disneyland? distance and cost by cab and bus???

The Silvermine Beach hotel is on the opposite side of Lantau, close to the ferry terminal at Mui Wo.

Don't know how long it will take or how much it will cost by taxi but it will probably take as much time to get to Disneyland as from Kowloon or HK Island.

Cheers,
Robert

One more thing:
Since you're traveling with a small child... I think the Disney hotels will be perfect. Expensive but very good for children: away from the noise and biggest pollution of the city, lots of green and still easy access to HK city, i.e. Kowloon and HK Island.

Cheers,
Robert

thanks for your inputs...yes, i also have come to the conclusion that the disney hotels would be the best bet...
i believe Silverline beach hotel is abt 1 hr away from disney and costs about HKD200.
doesn't make sense to stay anywhere but at Disney itself!
thanks
