Four Seasons Hostel: Good Hostel In Hong Kong
by niki68
This hostel is located in Tsim Sha Sui, Kowloon. It's a great location, close to MTR, shopping, Star Ferry, restaurants, etc. The rooms are very small but you get for what you pay for and here you don't pay much, between 150-200 HKD usually. The hostel is located in Chungking Mansions which is filled with many other hostels, and it can be a bit of maze to try and choose a good one. I have stayed at this hostel on at least 6 occasions and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and there is complimentary tea/coffee and internet for a nominal fee. The location is fairly quiet, depending on what room you get. Each room has a tv with a few English stations including BBC. The bathrooms are tiny, the shower is just a shower rose over the toilet, which you have to kind of juggle to position. That being said the showers are warmish and the shower gel is complimentary. The mattresses are a little hard but the bed is 3/4 single so it's comfortable enough. I believe they also have doubles available. I never stay more than a couple of nights, so it serves it's purpose. I have heard some people say that Chungking Mansions can be a dangerous place, but let me reassure you I have never had a problem. I have seen some questionable looking characters, but most people are approachable and will say hello. I really like this hostel, it's clean and comfortable and suits singles or couples. Please be warned that people who are prone to claustrophobia may want to avoid this place, as the lift up to the hostel is miniature and the rooms a tad small.
The best thing about this place is the location. It's right next to MTR, shopping and the harbour. The dining options are everything from McD's to fine dining. Also after shopping around for a cheap place to stay this is the best value for money I have come across in Hong Kong.
