Hart Street & Minden Street Bars -- Kowloon

by Ewingjr98

Wandering around Kowloon looking for a good place to grab a drink, you might end up on Hart Street. We had a drink at the CQ-Bar, and we peeked in a few others such as the Swiss Chalet and the Commander's Bar. All were pretty dead and definitely are not worth a visit. One place we stopped that was actually very busy was a gambling establishment where people were betting on horses and playing dice.

After a little wandering, we got bored and headed straight to Lan Kwai Fong for the real nightlife! Another spot that is a better option is Wanchai.

Italian food with American flair and great pasta

by Vita500 about Fat Angelo's

It's not Chinese nor Hong Kongnese nor traditional Italian but you won't regret a stopover at one of Hong Kong's six branches of Fat Angelo's.

Big dishes and free salads with bread are the unique features of this American-style Italian restaurant.

Locations:
Causeway Bay (250 Gloucester Road)
Wanchai (Hopewell Centre - 213 Queen's Road East)
Central (49A-C Elgin Street; Mid-Levels)
TST (The Pinnacle - 8 Minden Avenue)
Tseung Kwan O (Metro City Plaza II)
Tsuen Wan (Panda Hotel) -
1. Bruschetta
2. Arancini
3. Fettucine with Salmon

The below price indication can be achieved by two persons sharing one main and one side dish as well as a drink.
Really depends on what you order and how much you can eat...! ;-)

Review on hotel

by tracyskf

Hi, have anyone stayed at The Minden HK before? Any reviews?

I have shortlisted The Minden(Tsim Tsa Tsui) and Dorsett Seaview (Yau Ma Tei) - any comments which should I choose? Any recommendation?

Which area is better to stay at?

Thanks.

Re: Review on hotel

by frodo88

i have been at seaview couple of stays; room very tiny, and tv channels very limited for western customers. more geared for chinese mainlanders. only 50 feet to temple st night maket, 100 feet to nathan road, so location may offset other two negatives for you.

The more popular 3-4 star hotels in Kowloon include Prudential Hotel, Park Hotel, Kimberley Hotel, BP International Hotel and YMCA Salisbury.

Hi Shenoy

You can through Dragonair's web site. It may not be the cheapest but they are most reliable comparing to other Chinese airlines Their web site is www.dragonair.com. I have just checked for you, single fare for adult is around RMB2570 and RMB$2000 for children.

For hotels, you can refer this local travel agency as a reference. Here's the link: http://www.hotel.hk/index_eng.php

You can either book through them or alternatively there is a web site called www.hotelasia.com

Budget hotels are available in Mongkok (good location near Ladies Market) such as Metropark Hotel or in Yau Ma Tei (YMCA next to the MTR station) or Minden Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui looks like a good option too.

Travel Tips for Hong Kong

A city in perpetual movement

by Pierre_Rouss

A city in perpetual movement, always in construction. Built between the bay and the mountain, you are bound to try squeezing everything together. You expand on the coast with every square inch, same along the mountain to which you cling to until you reach the top.

Side streets

by herzog63

I enjoyed the sights and sounds of all of these streets. There is so much hustle and bustle! Quite often when I was hungry I would find a place that had lots of locals eating. I would figure that would be the best place because of all the people there.

Shop till u drop!! There was endless shopping to be done in HK! It was mid-morning n I was standing in middle of the soon-to-be-busy streets of Tsim Sha Tsui. Notice the colourful street advertisement behind me? :)
