Half day tour question

by comingfromoz

Hi all

I'm going to HK in Feb and I'm looking for a half day tour leaving from DL hollywood hotel that will do spots on HK island (like Stanley Market and Victoria Peak) and get me back to the hotel in enough time to get my ride to the airport (about 5pm). Does anyone know any good ones? I have found one via Asia Web Direct has anyone had experiance/done a tour with this group that they could tell me about. Any help you could give would be great!

Thanks!

A half day is very short for HK.

Rather than a tour, you may just be better off doing a few things yourself...

1) Stanley Mkt is on the south side of island. If you are looking for fakes or just a market for lots of inexpensive touristy stuff, then goto the Ladies Market in Mong Kok, it is in Kowloon, a short MTR ride.

2) Take a bus or trolley to Victoria's peak, the tram up the hill is right in town.

3) There is a also a live fish/meat market in the Sheung Wan area.

Have fun.

I was in HK earlier this year and did a couple of half day tours with Gray Line - same as the company in Aus.

I just done one private tour from hongkong, my guide was so nice and informative. She brought my family and children to Stanley Market and the Peak, it;s amazing. Do you need her contact?

Travel Tips for Hong Kong

Currency Exchange

by kidfree

By far the best rate of exchange on my last trips to Hong Kong were to be had at Chungking Mansions. At the entrance in the lobby area there are several exchange booths so the competition is pretty good for the traveller. As always count your cash before you leave the booth counter.

High-rise over the harbour

by dhod

I love the contrast between state-of-the art skyscrapers and modern buildings, run down working class accomodation and the mountaneous vegetation that forms the backdrop. The views from The Peak looking down over Central District and over to Kowloon, both during the day and at night will stay with me forever.

The first to do is to take the shuttle to Victoria Peak - make use of the tram to the top. The ride and the view from the top of Victoria Peak is something which will stays forever. When sunsets over Hong Kong the best place to be is on the promenade. Seeing the lights comes on on the island overlooking the harbour is beautifull.

Two International Finance Center

by bryINpoland

Two International Finance Center is Hong Kongs tallest building, reaching a height of 1,364 feet tall. There are 88 stories (8 being a extremely lucky number to the Chinese culture becuase it sounds like the world "prosperity" in Cantonese) If measured by roof height, and not structual height, the Two IFC is the third highest building in the world. Taipei 101 and Sears Tower the only others being taller. I always thought buildings were cheating when they add a mast or a antenna uptop, and then claim "We now have the tallest building in the world".

Victoria Peak

by Sharrie

From Central, head for VICTORIA PEAK by crossing the road from Hongkong & Shanghai Bank, turn left 50 yards & then turn right 200 yards until you see the fountain. Here, you'll find the entrance to the Peak Tram.

The Peak Tram will whisk you up the 386 m (1267 ft) ascent to the top where you'll get a fantastic view of Hong Kong's incredible harbor & skyline! Along the journey you'll be able to catch a glimpse of the beautiful harbor & all the buildings surrounding it. A very pretty & unique sight!
