by LPACK2260

Hi All,

Have a week booked in HK in December.
Can someone please confirm the exact date of the Cathay Pacific International Race Day 2011 (Sha Tin).

Also can you please advise how to purchase tickets and which ones are ideal for the avid race fan.

Thank you in advance.

PS We got a good deal at the Royal Park Hotel in Shatin when we were there which is a quality hotel with great facilities and restaurants.

The Cathay Pacific Race Day is one of the worlds best race days
Was at the Dec 2010 meet
Go and check out the Hong Kong Jockey club website.
International visitors can obtain admittance by going to Shatin race course ask taxi to drop you at the MME ( members main entrance) take your passport to desk inside front door and they will look after you.
Easiest way to get to race course is taxi , cost about $120 HKG dollars from TSIM SHA TSUI
Dress smart casual . Suit or jacket for male is not out of place.
You will be in the members enclosure and you will be up close with many well known identities
A great day out
I am unsure of the date in Dec 2011 , the date has probably not been confirmed yet, would expect aroung June/July the 2011/2012 dates will be confirmed , again, you can follow this from the HKJC website or contact them directly

Old transport in a fast moving world

by asternix

Get of at Tsim Tsa Shui by MTR (Metro) and cross over the Victoria Harbour by the traditional Chinese ferry.
The contrast you will feel on the water watching the skyscrapers and metal shining from the island gives you the perfect image of what Hong Kong is all about.
A big fast growing city with ancient roots. The night views from and to the skyscrapers. His 24/24h activity and shopping choice.
The variety and differences of 2 big cultures melting in each other (West and East).

When visiting HK, you must try all kinds of food. It's cheap and yummy!
Shopping is a must. If you can afford, you can go to some malls to buy Gucci, Prada, Ferragamo......! If you want to buy cheap things, you can find everywhere! The night view of Hong Kong is the thing you can't miss. Even I travel a lot, I can't find anywhere in the world have such a nice and charming night view. The leon lights are so bright and so beautiful that I don't like to take flight and leave HK at night time coz you will miss it so much!
