Hotel Grand Harbour Kowloon

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on February 16, 2015

On our trip to Hong Kong we stayed at the Grand Harbour Hotel Kowloon which was fantastic... fantastic food and amazing rooms .Arriving at this hotel, we were very impressed with its large circular drive sporting a lovely fountain in the centre ( with lots of stunning top of the range and vintage cars cars with their personalised number plates--and I want one!!!!)
The incredibly massive glass entrance leading to a beautiful foyer.. was manned by two wonderfully helpful Indian door men in full dress coats and gold braided turbans.
The foyer to the lovely hotel is stunning .. gorgeous wood and incredible marble walls, floors and an marble a beautiful marble fountain. It also has a stunning marble feature staircase leading to the other levels where a lot of weddings were held.. and re- decorated differently every day with swags/ flowers and lighting ect.
The lobby area was delightfully furnished, Italian in design-- very rich, comfortable and stylish with the most eyecatching/ incredibly beautiful crystal chandeliers---even the elevators are beautifully done in wood panelling with lovely pictures of old Hong Kong.

Check in was extremely quick and easy.. very friendly and helpful staff.
The corridors have the thickest carpets I have ever seen, you literally "sink" into them and they are so soft - ( they must be a nightmare to keep clean but they manage it !)
On our arrival. the TV was on and up flashed a personalised welcome message from the general manager welcoming us the hotel etc.. a really nice touch.
We had a really huge corner suite with massive floor to ceiling windows which looked down the straits with the mountains on either side.. absolutely incredible sitting with our morning coffee watching the sun come between the mountains. Every morning about 6.30am an elderly Chinese gentleman sat on the promenade in front of the hotel playing a Chinese flute as the sun came up.. it was the most amazing, haunting sound I've ever heard .. brought tears to my eyes every time, it was just so moving.
In the evening as it got dark we would sit at the windows with 180* veiw and watch the red sailed boat pass -was just so Hong Kong. The bathroom was immense.. so large, again in marble with the biggest bath ever .. it even had a volume control for the TV and radio built into the wall.
Our room at the G/Harbour were beautifully furnished and decorated on gorgeous rich golds and creams.
The food in the Promenade restaurant was delicious, fresh and beautifully prepared.... they serve the best Dim Sum I ever eaten ( I was so addicted to them that I didnt want to wait until the evening so I started ordered them from room service for breakfast most mornings) and I even tried the "Hairy Crabs" which were in season.. amazing!!
There is also a fantastic coffee shop/tea lounge,, serving a great selection of coffees/ teas and little snacks.. again with the most stunning views over the sea.
The hotel has a beautiful roof top swimming pool and with a rooftop bar.. great place to relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the 360* views over the water / the Hong Kong skyline and watch the world go by.

The hotel is set at the very end of an outcrop of land so there is nothing in front of it to spoil the stunning views. The area is much more Chinese in feel/ less touristy than Hong Kong island...less busy with great little streets to wander along.
The hotel was right next to the star ferry terminal and we used it a lot to get to H/K island ect although the hotel did provide a complementary air conditioned shuttle to Nathan street- which ran ever hour to and from the hotel. I loved travelling on the Star ferries.. the workers on it were very friendly and always smiling, they got to know us. They probably thought we were just mad tourists as we would sometimes take the ferry to Hong Kong island - get off and buy another ticket and go straight back to Kowloon-- It was great fun, we were like kids in a playground. They didn't speak English and I don't speak Chinese ( well, apart from-- yes/ no/ thank you and Happy New year but as it was only November that last one was a bit useless) anyway we managed to get by with hand gestures/ smiling /pointing and showing them pictures on my camera.
We loved everything about this hotel and its location.. would go back in a heartbeat!

Unique Quality: Views-- unbeatable
Food-- unbelievably good.
Roof top pool--360* views of Hong Kong
Staff-- friendly and professional
Rooms- relaxing and comfortable
Style- classic and understated.
Location -- we love it !!!

Directions: About 30mins by private car from the airport

location isn't too bad, it's next to the hung hom ferry which takes you to central or wan chai. the decor is a tad 1980s (think dynasty) but the service is top-class and the pool/ jacuzzi on the roof has awesome views.

Situated in water front of Hunghom, with breathbreaking view overlooking Hong Kong's skyline day and night. Harbour Plaza has become popular to the pubilic, include many movie stars and singers.
I choose Club Floor Harbour View room, which is located at highr floor. The room's decoration is modernish and all of them have almost floor-to-ceiling window.
Club Lounge Staff also offer higher level of service quality, some of them even remember who you are during the days u stay. It's a nice hotel that no need to pay much money.
How about select Peninsula for 1 night and Harbour Plaza for the others!

Unique Quality: Some of the hotel's must go/do:
*Most beautiful rooftop pool in Hong Kong
*Snow-white marble stairs in lobby
*Jogging or relaxing at the hotel's water front track
*Ride the free shuttle to TST, the shopping area
