Great place in Kowloon
by cbrock007 about Shangri-La Kowloon
You simply can't beat the Shangri-la properties anywhere you travel. This property is no exception...I had a beautiful room overlooking the Bay--it was incredibly beautiful at night. It was within walking distance to the harbour and shopping on Nathan. The service and food is outstanding--I felt the hotel was in a great location.
Hong Kong's Best Hotel View
by pperera about Kowloon Shangri-La
Shangri-La Service = Perfection One of the best hotels in the world, we stayed at the Island Shangri-La in Hong Kong, and think this may be even better service! We were immediately taken to the room with our 3 kids to check-in and invited to 'Happy Hour' in the Horizon Club. Even with the Children and a huge appetite they still served us, thank-you for all those business travellers and romancing couples who put up with the noise!

The hotel is clean and nice and the location is perfect. The MTR is right out side and another station is around the corner. Sam's tailor is a fifteen minute walk down the street on Nathan Road and you can even walk to the ferry to travel across the HK island. For location, cleanliness, comfort and price, this hotel is perfect. Location, Location, Location
Kowloon Shangri La, Central nice hotel

I called in 2 days perior my arrival to HK in July 2007, I had no problem to get a room at $218 per night. I took TAXI, I know some of you would hate me for not using Train as the rate so different. (90 HK dollar for train compaed to 250 HK in TAXI)
Well, my checking in process went so qucikly, they offered me Horizon club which
The hotel has almost three types of rooms, normal which I got.
They also offered me Horizon club which adds daily buffet breafast, cocktails and hors deoeuvres, two hous use of conference room, broadband internet, pressing for one set. butyou can to pay $290 per day.
This rooms are located in 21 and above floors and they have flat screen tvs and better furniture.
The best rooms are with that wonderful pay view.
Some VTers friends recommended to go for the deluxe harbour view room. they sid it worth the extra spend. The view is fantastic. I start regreting not taking that lol
Great Hotel with Great Views
by XenosUK about Kowloon Shangri-La
We've visited HK 4 times and stayed here for the first week of our honeymoon in 2001. Returned there for our latest trip in Dec 2004/Jan 2005 and it's still as good as ever. Excellent service and location.
It’s only a minute’s walk to the pier for the fast ferry to Central and is directly opposite the new entrance to the KCR station from where, with the help of the moving walkways, you can be at Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station on Nathan Road in about 2 minutes. Tsim Sha Tsui East promenade is directly in front of the hotel and makes a very pleasant stroll down to the Star Ferry pier. Fabulous views of HK Island.
So fab.

Great Value Hotel in a Good Location
by XenosUK about Nikko Hotel
Unfortunately, the Kowloon Shangri-La, where we stayed on our last two visits had priced itself out of our range for this trip, so we had to look for a cheaper alternative. We got a great deal at the Nikko, just up the road, with harbour view rooms on the Nikko floor, which included full daily breakfast, all-day snacks with beer and soft drinks and very generously proportioned alcoholic drinks and dim sum in the evenings. The room price also included free wi-fi, a discount at all the hotel’s bars and restaurants and separate check-in/check out facilities in the Nikko lounge to save queuing in reception. All this for HK$2,150 per night for 27-29/12 and HK$2,600 for 30/12-2/1 (about £173 / £210 currently), which was less than the price of a standard room only at the Shangri-La.
We were pleasantly surprised by the standard of the hotel and although the rooms were a little smaller and the views not quite as spectacular as the Shangri-La’s, we thought it was excellent value for money. It took an extra couple of minutes to walk to the Star Ferry pier and the MTR station, but hey, we were on holiday, so what’s the rush? I’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for something around this price range and the Nikko floor upgrades were well worth paying the extra for! Harbour views of the island, reasonable distance from public transport, outdoor pool.

Service, service, service.
From the door men to the check-in host to the bellmen, this hotel lets you know that no request is trivial.
I had a harbour view room. I was a bit jetlaged and woke up early to watch an amazingly vibrant and busy work morning. The view of the ferries, Hydrafoils and jitney boats was a great way to enjoy my tea.
Complimetary umbrellas and towels on return to dry off was a nice offer. Harbour front on a quiet street VERY close to every thing.
They have a great selection of restaurants. Chinese, Japanese, Italian a buffet and a deli.
My favorite was Tapas. A sunlit bistro with a great wine list and martini selection, even though I just do Vodka rocks twist.
The staff seemed mainly from Nepal, beautiful women, and well trained. The food selection was fantastic too.
