economy hotel

room is cheap and comfortable but basic. staff are friendly and helpful. i have stayed at this hotel on at least 3 occassions. only hiccup i have had is with a mix up with a booking. my mistake really in that i didn't follow up the confirmation, so yeah....follow up booking before you leave for hong kong. (my bad)
this is a good hotel for singles or couples travelling on a budget. it is secure. rooms are small but for me that wasn't a problem.
decor is old but it is clean.
not recommended for business travel. no internet etc.
a small observation.....hotel staff on day shift appear to have better english skills than staff on night shift.

Unique Quality: well located with night markets behind the hotel. located right on nathan road.

Economic stay near Temple St & Mong Kok

I stayed two nights on Central island, but the night I arrived my flights were late, and my friends were not available. I arrived late enough (1am) that I was not able to find a hostel and fankly just wanted to find a place to sleep fast.

I found this place though the information booths at the arrivals hall in the airport. It was the only place under $100US that had a room available.

With a price of ~$60US, it is an economic alternative to the pricey hotels, and a step above a hostel. The rooms were clean, and the bed comfortable. The bathrooms are small, but adequate. Despite the busy Nathan Road outside, once the windows were closed, you could not hear any noise. And with the windows closed, the A/C made it quite comfortable.

Unique Quality: The hotel is only a few minutes walking from both Temple Street night market, Tin Hau Temple and the markets of Mong Kok.

More about New Kings Hotel

The most or the second most least expensive

by jayjayc about Caritas Bianchi Lodge

Una ako nagpunta sa New Kings Hotel. Price is HKD500 / night for a single room. Tapos sa Booth Lodge for HKD550 / night. At napili ko ang Caritas for HKD554 / night (with breakfast).

Hello
Please suggest 3 stars hotel in TST (about HK$500-550) that are near MTR Station. Thanks.

Try Guangdong Hotel. I don't know their room rate now, but it's walking distance to an MTR station.

I recommend the BP International House.
Location is perfect, close to Jordan MTR station and right in front of Kowloon Park. If you can get an upper floor, facing the harbour, you can get an incredible 5-star view for a relatively inexpensive 3-star rate. Try the offers at www.hongkongnet.net. They usually offer some very attractive rates...

Enjoy,
Robert

The Nathan Hotel is supposed to be good value for money, and then also the New World Renaissance Hotel, not far from TST MTR, and close to the harbourfront.

FYI At the MTR you can catch the free bus to most hotels in Kowloon, I highly recommend the Marriott New World though the rates start at 800 HKD. Try also the Nikko Hotel for another nicer hotel, lower rates are usually at the YMCA Hotel.
