Shopper's Delight in Mongkok
Many tourists are attracted to Ladies Market because it has some of the best bargains in Hong Kong as well as an abundance of nearby delicious snacks. The two main activities of visiting Hong Kong involve shopping and eating and the Stanford Hotel puts you by the best action, which is why I recommend it for serious shoppers.
This nice hotel only has 194 rooms so it's a good idea to book in advance. Go to their website and check out the "Super Value Offer" which includes a free hour of wireless broadband Internet access, an amenity which is featured in every room.
The location is not too close to the Mongkok MTR station, about 7 blocks away to the southeast, and you have to cut through Ladies Market each time you go back and forth to Nathan Road. However I don't mind the short walk because it helps me burn off some calories from the HK $60 breakfast buffet.
Unique Quality: The proximity to Ladies Market is this hotel's most outstanding distinction. Yet despite the bustling bazaar going on three blocks away to the west you can still get a good night's sleep at its relatively quiet location.
Nearby Fa Yuen Street is an excellent place to buy athletic shoes and sports equipment.
There is an abundance of juice stands in this area of Mongkok including my favorite, Hui Lau Shan, which you can read about on my Hong Kong page.
In fact, there is a Hui Lau Shan fruit dessert shop on the same street Stanford Hotel occupies. (#27 Soy Street)
