REGAL ORIENTAL HOTEL, KOWLOON.

l booked a family room at the hotel over 3 weeks ago. l have never been so upset over a booking. The wrong room has been booked, l have been told we will have the breakfast refunded because breakfast is not included in the room rate, even though l have paid for it. Talk about confusion. The only email l received through the booking company was another customers confidential details, so which customer has received my families confidential booking details? Am now concerned about the review l have just read about the smell. The manager from the hotel rang me & the promised to phone me back within 10 minutes & l'm still waiting for the return phone call & that was over a week ago. All that and l havn'e even had my stay yet.

Excellent location and Service

Had an excellent stay here. The staff always went out of their way to make you feel welcome. The excellent location seems to be a trade off for the compact yet satisfactory rooms. Special mention must go to Nelson who works at reception who went that extra yard to make our stay most enjoyable.

Unique Quality: Excellent staff and location.

A little piece of Peninsula

The Kowloon hotel is located in Tsim Sha Tsui, on the Nathan Road. It's visible from afar, thanks to the glass walls covering the entire building.

The rooms are very small, but it's typical to most Hong Kong hotels. This hotel is great for business travelers, because every room has a computer with Internet connection and a fax machine, with an e-mail address and a fax number assigned just to that room. Get a room which faces the street and you will have a nice view. Our room was facing the backyard, but since we weren't in it most of the time, it didn't matter at all.

Unique Quality: The Kowloon Hotel is managed by the same company as the Peninsula, which is just across the street, and you can use all the amenities at the Peninsula.

The hotel's best feature is definitely its location. The hotel is on the Nathan Road (the "Golden Mile"), a main street for shopping and entertainment. It's walking distance from the Star Ferry, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Space Museum, the Art Museum and hundreds of shops and restaurants.

We were lucky to get great rates on the Internet. You should try searching rates on local Asian sites, such as www.asiarooms.com, they have the best deals.

Right in the middle of everything

During both of my trips to Hong Kong, I stayed at the Kowloon Hotel, and I had a great time there. The Kowloon Hotel is located in Nathan Road, one of the busiest streets of Kowloon, and it is close to all the important sights in Kowloon.
If you would like to go shopping, there are the shops of Nathan Road, and the Ocean Terminal shopping mall is also close by.
If you would like to visit museums, the Hong Kong Space Museum and the Cultural Complex are just around the corner.
If you would like to go to Hong Kong Island, you can take the ferry at Star Ferry Pier, which is only a three minute walk from the hotel.
The best thing is that the nightlife in the area is really lively, so you will not be bored in the evening either.

Unique Quality: Try to ask for a room on one of the upper levels, and then you'll probably have a view of the skyscrapers of Hong Kong Island.
The hotel has three restaurants and a bar. The Window Cafe Restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, has international food and I was very satisfied with that.

More about The Kowloon Hotel

The Kowloon Hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

I booked a few nights at the Kowloon Hotel in TST and checked out two days later. The rooms are absolutely cramped-- two people cannot stand shoulder-to-shoulder in any part of the interior hallway, and the two twin beds were spaced maybe 5 inches apart. Although the hotel boasts internet access, it's only available for an exorbitant fee of $120 HK (about $15 USD) per day. Also, the beds just have thin mattress pads, as opposed to a full mattress on a box spring. I found the beds dirty and stained.
I would not stay there again.

Kowloon Hotel Room

Here is a picture of our room in the Kowloon Hotel. This was taken from the far end of the room to try to show the actual size of the room. The room is small but modern and fairly comfortable. Free Internet in the room

Excellent Location But Small Rooms

by cwest03 about Kowloon Hotel

When I was doing research on hotels in HK I kept reading that the Kowloon hotel was nice but the rooms were small. I kept thinking how small could the rooms possibly be? Well let me tell you, I don't think they get much smaller than this. None the less the Kowloon hotel is a pretty good deal. It's located a half block from Nathan road and you can get from most rooms to an MTR train in less than 10 min. You can't beat that. With two in a room things get a bit cozy but it's just enough room for your luggage and a place to sleep. One of the other good features is the free internet in the room. Small rooms but a good value over all in this clean, comfortable and modern Kowloon hotel. They also offer a free shuttle from the airport express train station to the hotel.

Good Place to stay at Tsimshatsui

by mayt about Kowloon Hotel

Very good place to stay in Tsimshatsui. Rooms are bigger than other hotels. Services and facilities are good. Accessible to many shopping areas and transportation in Kowloon. It is along Nathan road.

Location, Location, Location

by Rodan44 about The Kowloon Hotel

The best quality of The Kowloon Hotel is its location, just behind the famed Peninsula Hotel (it is in fact owned by the Peninsula chain) in the heart of Kowloon's commercial district and only one block from the harbor. The rooms are modern and comfortable, although somewhat tiny. It's not cheap, but certainly a lot less expensive than the nearby luxury hotels. There is a really good Cantonese restaurant in the basement.

The most convenient location in Kowloon

by aukahkay about The Kowloon Hotel

The Kowloon Hotel is located at the southern end of Tsim Sha Tsui in the Golden Mile of Kowloon, just behind the legendary Peninsula Hotel. It is within walking distance to the Hong Kong Cultural Center, Star Ferry, Avenue of Stars and the international cruise center. The Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station is directly connected to the hotel so getting anywhere in Hong Kong is very easy and convenient. The rooms are small though - there is just enough space for two pieces of luggage.

Re: Prince or Kowloon Hotel

I guess Kowloon Hotel have the upper edge in terms of location, smack near the harbour, Nathan Road and MTR Station. But its lobby and rooms smaller than Prince Hotel.
