We enjoyed our stay in the Badami Court Hotel. It is located on the main road between the railway station and Badami town, and is the only mid-range hotel in Badami. The hotel staff is very courteous and helpful, and they really try to make the guests' stay pleasant.
The grounds are nice, with a central lawn; in the evening they had a buffet dinner there, with a traditional dance show performed by a local group of women (very amateurish..). After the dance was over, these women went from table to table, blessed the guests and kissed their hands! There is a very small swimming pool, but still one of the hotel guests was swimming around and around the pool for 30 minutes non stop.
Our room was comfortable, but in many corners quite shabby (especially the bathroom). There was a wardrobe, but all the shelves were lined with newspaper, which did not look very inviting. There was supposed to be a safe deposit box in the room, but it was just a wooden box with a simple key that broke the first time we used it. The rceptionist apologized and offered to keep our valuables in a sealed envelope in his desk.
Although the hotel has its own generator, there were several (short) electricity breaks during the evening.
Last positive note: the staff asked for our feedback, and candidly commented that they needed our perspective in order to improve their service, because we (meaning foreign guests) see things differently from the way they see them.
