Taj Mahal
Does anyone know if it's possible to visit the Taj Mahal when staying in Candolim without pre-booking with tour operator, whether it be by road, rail or air and the approximate cost?. Many Thanks

There are flights and trains to Agra from Goa. Driving would take a long time.
Pre-booking to see the Taj Mahal is not necessary- try and get there in the early morning, because queues and security checks take ages.
The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays.

Hi - unless you want to spend 60+ hours of your trip on the train, I'd recommend flying. There are alot of good budget airlines (SpiceJet, GoAir, Indigo, Kingfisher Red, JetLite) that fly Goa to Delhi. From Delhi you can take the train to Agra. All of the reservations can be made yourself - no need to book through any tour operator. Plan to spend at least 1 night in Agra, depending on flight times. While you're there be sure to visit Agra Fort as well. Have a great time. The Taj is really special.
