BAGA taxi for the day

Hello and thanks to all those who gave me tips on what to see in and around Baga.
We have made our list and look forward to January.
One question though.
From people's recent experience what would be a reasonable price to hire a taxi for the day to see some sights?
I was told that around £25 would secure a trustworthy car and driver.
Is this reasonable?

Yes- that would be about right. But it is absolutely necessary to negotiate a price AND PAY BEFORE YOU GO.

It's not necessary to pay before you go and I've never heard of anyone doing that in Goa. (I've never done that anywhere in India.) Raymond - I can recommend someone very reliable it you'd like. Just send me an email and I'll email his details back.

It's much cheaper ... A cap driver for the hole day will cost you around 11-15 max. pounds 800-1000 rupees

Dental Treatment in Goa

Do visit a dentist when you are in Goa. Dental treatment is quite cheap as compared to UK.
I visited Dr Abhijit Sadekar, from Panaji,and was very happy with the treatment he rendered to me and my wife. I feel that it pays for your ticket to Uk. Dr Abhijit was referred to me by another englishman at candolim who also had availed of his services.
It is advisable to mail him for an appointment at apsadekar@yahoo.co.in or phone 9822124680 My decision to visit Dr. Sadekar
A beautifully Painted house on...

A beautifully Painted house on way to Anjuna Beach.
This particular house is about 150 years old! u can find a number of such houses and buildings belonging to the portugese era .

Shop in Goa!!!! Goa's where...

Shop in Goa!!!! Goa's where you get the cutest,trendiest(maybe even the skimpiest)of clothes.
Colourful sarongs,tie-n-dye-spaghetti tops,hats,sunglasses(fake of course),wooden handicrafts,silver jewellery and much more are available on the streetside(and beachside!)
Here's where I think you should go:
Baga-for fabulous sarongs and cute tops.They also have the very trendy pants n wrap around skirt combo(not skants!!) made with sari borders!
Calangute and Candolim- for leather goods,gift articles and tops.
Panjim-for silver and wooden gift items.And the usual stuff you get in a city
Anjuna Flea Market-for everything!!!!:)
A little bit of culture...

Finally, don't miss the chance to sample some real Indian culture while you are in Calangute. The Ekrkar Art Gallery, in Gaura Vaddo, at the south end of town, hosts evenings of classical music and dance every Tuesday and complete with incense and evocative candlelight. The recitals, performed by students and teachers from Panjim's Kala Academy, are kept comfortably short for the benefit of Western visitors, and are preceded by a short introductory talk. Tickets are available in advance or at the door.
